I am good at acclimating to new environments, as I have lived in several places in my life, including a semester abroad in my bachelor's degree. I am looking to volunteer with children - although I have never formally taught children, I enjoy playing and fooling around with the children of my family (cousins, nephews), and I believe I have a great connection with them. Lastly, I am passionate about languages, learning mandarin and Arabic, I can talk about language and it's beauty for hours.

For the past year I have a hobby I am passionate about - Salsa dancing! Much like a language (and they say dance is a language), I can talk about it for hours... But moreover - I can teach you!
Also I am much into cooking, doing sports, reading and traveling. Hopefully I have time to do all of these in Taiwan.

I spent two weeks volunteering with Steve in Jiayi. It was truly exceptional, more than I would ever expect.
Located in beautiful alishan mountains is his dream farm we help him to establish, each helps with what he can do, Steve won't urge you to do tiring work if you can't do that (I specifically asked for that - and there sure is much labour to… read more do). With a manageable workload of 3-4 hours a day, we had much free time to explore the city, or relax at the mountaintop. If not relaxed enough of a lifestyle, occasionally Steve would like to take a day off, preferring to spend the rest days with the volunteers, as well as most of the evenings once off the mountain.
Of course you can ask to spend your free time alone, but I recommend joining Steve on his adventures! He has the most interesting life, as well as he is a humourous and (very) inspiring person to be aside to. He will be happy to share his life with you as he did with us, taking you to his favourite places in jiayi and meeting his friends and family almost daily.
I would also mention that Steve accepts volunteers from all around the world and it was a really cool way to meet international friends and not just for a short time.

There is much more to tell about (for example Steve's crazy life atory, and his funny ability to make friends with anyone) but you will have to find out yourself! Welcome to the best workaway in Taiwan! And thank you Steve ❤️

There anecdotes if you made it this far:
- before coming, I told Steve that my goal visiting Taiwan was to learn Chinese, and he really was the best teacher I had. Including him taking a day off and introducing several friends of his to me just to chat and practice.
- Steve has years of experience when it comes to tea (and herbal medicine), his main business. I showed much interest and he was totally happy to share his knowledge, and let me try brew tea. Almost every morning he had friends for tea and at some point I was the tea host almost every time (also a good chance to practice Chinese). In fact, he also went out of his way to connect me with a tea farmer friend of his, for which I volunteered a whole week! Thanks Steve!
- last but not least, Steve took us for a two day trip in his taxi-cab (yes, he was a taxi driver once) to alishan mountain, especially to the places no tourists could go. And of course he has friends everywhere he goes :)
It was an amazing experience
