  • More details about your skills

My skillset is highly versatile, and I have experience in a wide range of creative processes. At university, I studied Fine Arts (BA) where my focus was primarily on developing my skills with ceramic materials to create pottery vessels, which in turn led me to go on exchange to Japan to study traditional figurative sculpture in wood, clay and plaster. Finding ways to record and transport my sculptural work home from abroad led me to experiment with 3d scanning, printing and modelling as well as VR sculpture and Motion Capture technology, although I am still most interested in working directly with physical materials. Flint, bronze, wood, stone and FRP plastic are among materials I have previous experience of using.

Whilst there are still many parts of my ceramics and sculptural practice I'd still like to develop, I am confident in my fundamental abilities and can quickly adapt to new skills if needed. My current skillset includes: Wheel throwing, slab-building, firing manual electric kilns, assisting with anagama/wood firings, mixing glazes, recycling and wedging clay, taking plaster casts and moulds and building sculptural armatures.

I have experience of teaching ceramics, mountain biking and blacksmithing at summer camp in the US through my time as a camp counsellor in 2024. This was a very demanding role, as alongside my teaching roles, all 60 of us international staff were responsible for facilitating daily activities and evening events for 350 campers over a 2-month period, as well as being responsible for the care of campers 24/7. This experience has made me feel very confident in adapting to a challenging enviroment and working efficiently as part of a large-scale team in a variety of situations.

I also have 6 years of drawing and life-drawing experience, am familiar with photoshop, premiere pro and other adobe software, and am very comfortable with using a photo studio lighting setup and digital camera.

  • What else ...

I love to hike, run and cycle, and am a keen reader of sci-fi/speculative fiction, as well as writings and essays on material culture. Although I rarely have time to do so, I love plein-air painting.
I'm also a fairly competent freshwater swimmer and enjoy canoeing and paddle-boarding.
