  • Description

Hello! We are Camilla (Denmark 1984), Albert (Spain 1991) and our son Oak (December 2022).

6 years ago, we met in Greenland, where we both worked in tourism. The land and the people there opened our eyes about what this life is about. The experiences we lived there sparked a change. We started changing the way we lived, starting by quitting our jobs and moving to a small island with our 13 sled dogs.
Over the years we adopted a slower pace, longer time spent outside, reducing the amount of things we own, build true human relationships, eating whole foods and using our bodies and hands as we move on with our day. All we want is to live a human life. As a deer lives a deer's life, or a whale lives a whale's life.
Eventually we moved from Greenland to be closer to family and friends in Europe. It became difficult to live a human life. We used to be fulfilled working in the outdoor industry, but now we felt empty. Year by year, society around us feels more alien. Humans in many cities and towns are becoming more distant and scared of each other, and of all other living creatures. It is then when we packed our things (only what could fit in the car) and started joining different projects and people in Workaway. All of a sudden we could breathe human life again, and that makes us smile and think of a bright future. These projects and the people we meet there nourish us to grow into the way we want to live our life.
We have been volunteering in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Spain. In an organic vegetable farm, an eco-village, an outdoor learning center, a building festival, a yoga retreat and an off-grid community.
We have had 8 months break from volunteering in projects, as our son Oak came into this world. And it has been wonderful. And now we are ready to join projects again with this little chubby and smiley baby on tow. Our way to parent is to include Oak in what we do on a day to day basis, so far either sitting next to us or on a carrier while we are cooking, cleaning or sewing. We love it, and he loves it too! We have also been 2 months travelling in Thailand and doing week-long hiking trips with him. We will do all the tasks expected of us in a project. We will just ask for flexibility for one of us, in order to respect the timing of Oak for sleeping and breastfeeding.
What we value and focus on our workaway experiences are:
-Build genuine relationships with hosts, workawayers and other people involved.
-Contribute / meet the needs of the hosts of the project.
-Expand our practical skills for self sufficiency (farming/permaculture, building, cooking, herbalism, healing, foraging, handicrafts to name a few).
-Open our minds, be inspired, be supported and be challenged.
    -Find peace and connection spiritually.
If you would like to know more about us, just reach out with a message or email and we will be happy to get back to you.
