    Description

We are a family-owned sled dog kennel with purebred Alaskan malamutes. Our beautiful malamutes are our family members, comrades, and friends. We do not race our malamutes. This is not what they're bred to do.

We are not a business and we do not use our malamutes for commercial dogsled trips.

Alaskan malamutes are one of the worlds most ancient dog-breeds, at least 10,000 years old, and they absolutely love to pull. Pulling makes them happy! But sledding with purebred Alaskan malamutes is nearly a lost art, especially nowadays because sled dog racing with huskies is becoming overwhelmingly popular. Our Alaskan malamutes are used primarily for recreational sledding and conducting Arctic expeditions in Arctic Alaska, which is where the dog-breed originated thousands of years ago. Learn about this ancient dog-breed and the art of sledding with Alaskan malamutes! You will be provided with your own team of malamutes and a cozy warm cabin. We welcome you to join our team in a once in a lifetime opportunity in Alaska!!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We like to highlight and educate people about our Alaskan culture, lifestyle, and the lost art of Arctic travel by dogteam. Most importantly though, we want to educate and promote the preservation of the working Alaskan malamute which is in real danger of being lost. By doing so we help preserve the culture they represent. You will learn much about the Inuit culture and old Arctic traveling methods and how-to train and care for this ancient dog-breed.

  • Help

    Help

We are searching for an individual or couple to help care for our kennel of Alaskan malamutes. You will be provided a warm dry cabin with electricity beside a small lake on the premises. Basic duties will be feeding, watering and cleaning the kennel while we are away. There will be much leisure time for hiking, kayaking on the lake, cycling in summer and skiing and dogsledding in winter.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We will provide a one-room cabin with electricity but without running water. There is an outhouse, sink and water basin. The cabin is settled beside a small lake which is an ideal summer recreation area for paddle-boarding, canoeing, and kayaking. There are grocery stores and post offices nearby and easy road access. Cell phone reception is also excellent.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Expect plenty of leisure time for canoeing, kayaking and bicycling in summer and cross-country skiing, dogsledding, snowshoeing, and northern lights viewing in winter. We would like outdoorsy, hard working and energetic people to join our very active lifestyle. We are cyclist enthusiasts, cross-country skiers and, of course, dogsledders.
