    Description

    Hi,
I'm Marcel and I am the owner of this little ranch.
My partner Raquel and I are in the process of transforming this piece of land into a sustainable place to live.
It's all early days, there is lots to do and we welcome your help.

    About us:
We are outdoorsy and easy going, in our mid 30s. We love nature and our friends. And we enjoy sharing this place and its mountainous surroundings with like minded people. We love to hike, bike, ski(tour), canoe and kayak.
We're both handy people, we can build and fix most anything - and the things we can't, we got friends for ; )
I just quit my job to focus all my time on this property while Raquel still works as a carpenter and ski instructor.

    About the property:
We have 15 acres outside Revelstoke BC, mountains and forest in the backyard and a nice lake very close by.
On the property you'll find a beach volley ball pitch, a few boulder rocks (if you clean the moss off), a small pond and waterfall, a couple tiny cabins and outbuildings, little meadows and a few treed areas.

Having your own transportation is a plus since we are 15min outside of town, but not a must.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Because we have so many different projects going on and planned, you can learn a variety of skills or share your knowledge with us. We believe in hard work but also in having a good time and laughs while working. Exchanges of knowledge and culture are always welcome, you never know what you can learn from one another.
We also love good food and exploring the mountains and lakes that surround us.

    - carpentry / building with wood
I want to build a few decks, outhouses, outdoor shower, firewood storage boxes.... to name just a few. If you're curious about working with wood but have no experience, we're happy to show you, there's plenty that can be done and learned without prior experience.

    - forest work / cutting fire wood
We have a bunch of downed trees on the property which we’ll turn into firewood. You can help us stack the firewood and pull dead branches and the like out of the forest for a general cleanup.

    - landscaping work/gardening
we're always in the process of re-arranging our vegetable garden to optimize its output. Since we were gone traveling early this growing season though, there isn't much growing this year yet. But let's see, maybe it's no too late to start yet. Let us know if you've got a green thumb.

    Raquels list:
I have flower seeds that I would love to plant, transplant trees, remove dead trees, clean areas with invasive weeds, many different things that we will be doing together.

    Accommodation

We have a big canvas tent if you like the camping life or one of our little bunkie cabins.
If you have your own campervan or RV you are more than welcome to plug in, we have a place with running water.
We provide three meals a day, seven days a week. We can accommodate some dietary constraints, but not all. In addition, pets are welcome always if they are well behaved, as there are friend's kids running free on the property.

The toilet provided is an outhouse, the shower is an outdoor shower with hot water.

    What else ...

We are pretty close to revelstoke, where there is biking and hiking trails, museums, lakes to jump in, we have an enchanted forest 5-10 min by car, crazy creek (hot pools and water falls) is about 15 min by car too. In this area there is plenty of thing to do for everybody.
