I am embarking on an ecological project on the coast of Ecuador. I recently bought a small cacao farm with the goal of cultivating a healthy ecosystem. Cacao finds its origins as an understory tree in the amazon, and I would like to copy nature's method. The plan is to plant fruit trees and other species of value to wildlife to provide shade, food, habitat and hold the hillside in place. I would also like to enrich the soil with legumous trees and organic composting methods, and integrate organic food crops.

Cleaning around Cacao with machetes, pruning trees, planting, building/maintaing the little cabin.
Option one - camp out on the farm! The house is simple, but the roof will keep you dry and I have a few toldos to keep the bichos out.
Option two - you can have a room at the beach cabins where I live and we will commute to the farm (about an hour which includes a bus/car ride and a good walk)
The farm is a beautiful piece of nature where the toucans and monkeys come to visit. You can wander along the little stream or through the food forest. I am close to Mompiche which is famous for its excellent surf and miles of nearly vacant palm fringed beach.
