    Description

The tropical rainforest around Lake Arenal is what we're honoured to call home. My wife and I moved here 17 years ago from the Netherlands, now we're a family of 5. We recently acquired our dream property, now we need some extra hands to develop and realizes some of the plans, ideas and visions that we have for it. This involves some reforestation, building some basic structures, preparing the land and planting and growing fruits and vegetables, and who knows what else.

Experience nature at its finest in one of the most bio-diverse places on the planet, where you're surrounded by tropical rain forest, and right at the shores of Lake Arenal.
We're in a small town that's not very touristy with a nice mix of locals and foreigners, so you'll experience plenty of the Costa Rican lifestyle, but you won't be completely lost if you're Spanish isn't that great (or non-existent at all).
Some of the most renowned sights of Costa Rica are a daytrip away, like La Fortuna ("adventure capital of Central America") and the Arenal volcano, Rio Celeste, Monteverde, and more.
If you want to pick up some Spanish while you're here, that shouldn't be a problem. You can take lessons with a great teacher in town here, or else our kids would love to help you with that! (And us too, of course).
Last but not least; I run a wakeboard school, so if you like watersports then let's ride!

Mainly we're looking for someone to help working outdoors on the small finca/farm (just under 2HA). Two main projects at the moment are the construction of a covered area ("rancho"), and general gardening; turning pasture back into jungle for one part, and into a garden (with fruits and vegetables, also regular "ornamental') for another part.
In case the Workawayer enjoys cooking they're more than welcome to share their kitchen-skills by cooking a meal here or there :)
Some key word: Basic building/carpentry (wood or bamboo), gardening, making trails, fencing, fruits & vegetables, re-foresting, composting, ....

You'll have a guesthouse to yourself, with bathroom, kitchen (with fridge) and small terrace outside.
One double bed, so suitable for one person or a couple.
Out the window you look straight into the jungle; see the bananas grow day by day, you might get woken up by howler monkeys, if the birds haven't done so already.
One meal a day (lunch or diner) is included.

Supermarkets, bank, stores are 5 minutes away. We usually go into town several times a day so you can always catch a ride to get some groceries etc. Couple times a bus passes that can also take you there,or the other way to the next bigger town (30 mins by car, 50 by bus).
There's some great hiking to do, and we have a mountain bike you could use. Go kayaking, wakeboard, SUP, fish on Lake Arenal!
We have very stable and super fast internet, free to use.
