Hello! I want to renovate some parts of my 50-year-old house and am looking for help from experienced DIYer's, since I don't have much experience myself. Last year, a couple of friends helped me to upgrade two of the rooms and we had a blast!
Onomichi is a quaint and incredibly beautiful city in the Hiroshima prefecture. It's a maze of narrow alleys and old houses, a town loved by artists, full of temples and stray cats. It is also a gateway to the Shimanami Kaido, a 70-km cycling route with bridges that connect several islands. If you enjoy cycling, the seaside and nostalgic places, you'll love it here!Types of help and learning opportunities

I can show you around Onomichi, and tell you about this town's history, culture and hidden spots. Locals are very friendly and welcoming, and I can introduce you to neighbours and friends.
I work at a manga publishing company, so I can share some information about this topic if you are interested.
We can practice conversation in Spanish, Japanese, Russian and English. If you are studying Japanese, I have several textbooks you might find useful.Help
I would like to learn from someone with renovation experience and to work together on at least one of the following:
- Changing the floor (from tatami to engineered hardwood flooring)
- Replacing wooden ceiling panels in one room
- Installing wall panelling
You don't need to be familiar with traditional Japanese building techniques, but you have to be able to use tools like a circular saw or an electric screwdriver.Languages spoken

A private room for one person, or two people who are willing to share. You will be sleeping in a Japanese-style room with tatami flooring and futon. Your room will have air conditioning and a fan, which are essential during summer in Japan. The kitchen and bathroom will be shared with me.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. I can cook for us, or we can cook together or take turns.
There is WIFI that can be used for browsing and checking emails or the SNS. Unfortunately, it isn't fast enough for streaming movies or online gaming. We can occasionally borrow WIFI at the neighbouring guesthouse if needed.
My house is close to the station, shops and temples, but is located on a steep hill, and cannot be reached by car. Also, please keep in mind that summer in Japan is extremely hot and humid.
My place is LGBT-friendly and strictly non-smoking.What else ...
You can use one of my bicycles to explore the area. I'll be happy to show you around and go cycling, swimming or sightseeing together.
The following cities can be reached by regular train: Fukuyama (20 minutes), Okayama (about 1 hour 15 minutes), Hiroshima (about 1 hour 30 minutes).
In Japan, Summer is the fireworks season, and you can enjoy the Onomichi Sumiyoshi Fireworks Festival on July 27th. There are other firework events in nearby towns and islands.A little more information
