    Description

Hi there, and welcome to our little adventure!

We are a family with 4 children, living in the sunny town of Coín, Andalusia, in Málaga province. Our four children are in school most of the day, so the house is lively in the mornings and evenings, but pretty calm during work hours. We recently bought an old townhouse right on the main square, full of charm and character, and we’re slowly bringing it back to life. The square itself is always buzzing with cafés, markets, fiestas, and plenty of people-watching.

We are curious and creative who like to think outside the box. We usually spend our freedom time in nature, exploring new places and just soaking up Andalusian life. At home we enjoy fresh fruit, vegetables, and simple Mediterranean cooking — healthy but always relaxed. My personal interest in neuroscience and diversity, so our conversations around the table can range from everyday family life to big questions about the mind.

As a family we enjoy meeting people from different cultures and sharing stories, and the kids are always happy to be part of that exchange too.

For our project, we’d love to welcome easygoing, open-minded people who are happy to get involved. We are currently refreshing and decorating the house, and we’re looking for help with restoring furniture. The house came with antique, dark pieces that I’d love to transform into a funky, modern style. I have an art background and experience to share, so if you’re interested in learning about crafts such as decoupage, gilding, and other creative techniques, you might enjoy joining us.

No special skills are needed — just enthusiasm, creativity, and a willingness to learn together.

Coín is a real Spanish town full of life and it has its character. There’s always something going on — weekly markets and local events that bring everyone together. And off course lots of fiestas, we know how to have fun! The old part of town, with its winding streets and the busy main square, has a unique of charm and gives you a taste of everyday Andalusian life. Its interesting mix of traditional and modern buildings, which sometimes clash. But the benefits as a result we don’t have tourists, leaving Coín much more relaxed. It’s a great place to practice your Spanish, meet locals, and settle into the easy rhythm of a welcoming community surrounded by mountains and countryside.
Also there is a big international community with international food stores.

At the same time, it’s really well connected. There are regular buses to Málaga and Marbella, so you can easily spend a day at the beach, wander the city streets, or head into the hills and nature reserves nearby.

    Help

We’re mainly looking for help with creative ideas to personalise our 200-year-old house. I want to respect its history while also making it cozy, funky, and full of character. A big part of this is restoring the antique and art deco furniture we inherited—most of it in dark colours—by using light decorative painting, adding ornaments, or trying other imaginative touches to give it a fresh, modern twist.

I have an art background and experience with restoring old pieces, and I’d be happy to share what I know. If you’re interested in crafts such as decoupage, gilding, or other decorative techniques, this could be a fun and creative exchange where we share ideas and learn new skills together.
