    Description

Hello, I am Pascale and I run a successful five bedroom Bed and Breakfast (chambres d'hôtes) in an old farmhouse in the beautiful and historic small city of Albi (one hour by train to Toulouse). Albi is a Unesco Heritage City with a stunning, red-brick Cathedral. It is the birthplace of the artist Toulouse-Lautrec and there is a world class museum dedicated to him in the city center. The city also boasts an international arts and film cultural center, wonderful restaurants and many artisans. There is a weekly farmer's market as well as a daily covered gastronomic food market. The area abounds with vineyards, charming villages, bicycle routes (there are bicycles to use at the B&B), museums, antique markets, music festivals and quiet walks along the river Tarn. It is an area that welcomes tourists but is not overrun by them. For those who crave a bit of big city life, the bed and breakfast is a 10 minute walk to the train station and the vibrant city of Toulouse is less than an hour by train.

Helpers will learn the inner workings of a successful customer service based business. You will have opportunities to cook (this is optional but Workawayers can enjoy the fun of preparing wonderful French pastries, crepes and brioches as well as jams and granola from local ingredients.

You will have an opportunity to practice your French with me, and every other language with our international visitors. It is always interesting to converse with our guests, who come from as nearby as Toulouse to as faraway as Japan. I always enjoy talking with them and learning about their culture.

    Help

I manage the business on my own and I am looking for Workawayer to help in the day to day running of the B&B: preparing and cleaning guest rooms; keeping garden and pool area neat; checking-in guests; help with serving breakfast. Help required from volunteers is mainly cleaning but general maintenance may be required and the tasks may change according to the needs. If you enjoy cooking, you would be welcome to join in creating scrumptious breakfasts for the guests.

I would like workawayers to help 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week with 2 days off to enjoy Albi and the local area. This is in exchange for bed (in a private room and bathroom) and breakfast as well as a positive experience and the opportunity to learn the details of running a successful tourist business. You are welcome to the use of the kitchen for the preparation of other meals. There are bicycles for your use and the city center is a 10 minute walk from the house.

The B&B is located a 10 minute walk into the center of the small city of Albi (50,000 inhabitants) on a quiet street with fields of sheep grazing at the farm next door. I offer a comfortable private room with double bed and private bathroom. A hearty breakfast will be offered every morning. The kitchen will be available for volunteers to store and prepare their other meals.

    What else ...

Workawayers will discover a beautiful and historic town off the main tourist track. There are a lot of cultural activities in town, including the Toulouse Lautrec Museum and the beautiful red brick Unesco listed cathedral. The area is very lively, especially in the summer: there are many vineyards to visit and concerts to attend, bicycle trips to take, medieval streets to explore, as well as kayaking on the Tarn river. Toulouse, a vibrant city, is one hour by train.
