    Description

We’re Clare, Tim, and our 10-year-old daughter Pippa, and we live on a relaxed 8-acre hobby farm in the beautiful Swan Valley wine region of Western Australia. Our property is home to horses, chickens, and dogs, and there’s always something happening around the place.

We usually need a hand with gardening, weeding, and general farm maintenance — nothing too heavy, just the kind of jobs that help keep the property looking great.

In return, we offer a comfortable, self-contained one-bedroom apartment with your own space to relax and unwind. Our farm is just 30 minutes from Perth city and 20 minutes from the airport, and the Swan Valley has so much to explore — from vineyards and cafés to bushwalks and wildlife.

As a family, we enjoy meeting new people and sharing our little corner of country life. Pippa loves having Workawayers around, and there’s always a warm and welcoming atmosphere here. If you like animals, fresh air, and a laid-back lifestyle, you’ll feel right at home.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We love the cultural exchange side of Workaway and the chance to connect with people from all over the world. Workawayers become part of our family life while they’re here — sharing meals, stories, and plenty of laughs. Pippa especially enjoys learning about different countries and cultures, and she’s always keen to chat and ask questions.

In the Swan Valley, there are lots of local events, weekend markets, and community activities that you’re welcome to join us for. We also enjoy taking time to show Workawayers some of our favorite local spots, whether that’s a walk through the bush, a visit to a vineyard café, or a relaxed evening by the fire pit.

We’re always happy to share what we know about animal care, hobby farming, and rural living in Australia, and we love learning new recipes, traditions, and skills from our guests too. Hosting Workawayers gives us the opportunity to see the world through fresh eyes, and we hope it gives you the chance to experience authentic Aussie country life.

  • Help

    Help

We’re looking for Workawayers who are proactive, friendly, and happy to lend a hand where needed. Most of the tasks are outdoors — things like gardening, weeding, and general farm maintenance — so you’ll enjoy it best if you like being active and spending time outside.

Sometimes we’ll do tasks alongside you, especially on bigger projects, and we’re always happy to share skills and learn from each other. At other times, you’ll need to be comfortable helping independently and managing small tasks on your own.

Previous experience with gardening, property upkeep, or farm work is a bonus but not essential — a positive attitude and willingness to get involved go a long way.

    Accommodation

We offer a comfortable, self-contained one-bedroom apartment on the property. It has its own shower, bath, and a lounge area, giving you plenty of space to relax and unwind after a day of farm tasks.

The apartment is clean, private, and secure, so you’ll have your own quiet space whenever you need it. We provide access to the kitchen and basic cooking facilities, and we’re happy to share meals or cook together sometimes, though you’re welcome to prepare your own food as well.

This setup is perfect for anyone who enjoys a mix of independence and family interaction — you’ll have your own space, but still be part of life on the farm.
