    Description

I’m looking for a female companion for my mother.
She’s 91, but in good health & fairly independent - no nursing care etc.
Currently I live with her, but I have an opportunity next year, which means being away for about 6 months, from early May, so I’m looking for someone to take over my role.
Mum goes to a centre twice a week, so is away about 6 hours, & meets friends for coffee a couple of other days, so she does have things going on - you’re not required to be there 24/7!
In return, you get rent free accommodation in a modern house with a small garden - it overlooks a lake & is in a quiet residential area of a small rural Irish village. You will have your own bedroom & the main bathroom to yourself, as Mum has her own en suite.
Animal lover essential - she has a cat.
And you need to be kind & patient - her memory is terrible, so you end up having the same conversation several times!
Ideally I think this would suit a mature lady, who fancies a rural retreat - it’s quiet & peaceful here, & is about 35 / 40 mins to drive to most larger towns, though there are smaller towns about 15 - 20 mins drive. In our village there's a theatre, a hotel, several pubs, a small supermarket, hardware shop, hairdressers etc.
Obviously this is a big thing - on both sides - we’ll both have to do lots of checking out / meeting up to assess suitability etc, but I think it can work well - au pairs for seniors is a great idea!

There's lots going on around the area - boating & fishing ; a Buddhist centre nearby & a Hari Krishna Centre nearby, both of which are very welcoming. The Arts are very big in this area, so if you're interested in theatre, writing etc, there's lots for you - I'd be glad to show you around & introduce you to any people or places before I go..

This entails about 3 hours a day of ‘companionship’ - maybe driving her to the shops (full driving licence needed - you would have the use of my car, but will need your own insurance); sitting & having a chat over a cup of tea; cooking a meal most evenings - she doesn’t eat properly if left to her own devices; & sleeping in the house each night - she worries if she’s on her own overnight. You will be able to spend the odd night away if you need to, & my son or daughter will step in, once you have it arranged with them.

This is a modern 2 story house with a small garden - it overlooks a lake & is in a quiet residential area of a small rural Irish village. You will have your own bedroom & the main bathroom to yourself, as Mum has her own en suite. The kitchen / dining room is large & bright, facing the small but pretty garden. The lounge is also large, looking over the lake.

There are lots of lovely walks - we're known as 'The Lakelands', so there are loads of beautiful areas to explore- both near & further away. We're not far from Northern Ireland, so trips to various National Trust properties are easy. Also boat trips, & lots of local festivals - whether you're interested in the Arts, or food. I have a circle of friends living in the area, who are willing to help if you need any advice when I'm away - whether that's connected with the village, or further afield.
