Description
{!} CONTACT THIS HOST IN SPANISH {!}
I am Joaquín, 100% chapin (Guatemalan) and I would like to share our wonderful culture with you. I love to cook, dance, spend time with my friends and family and work on my project the cooking school. I live in a beautiful colonial house in Jocotenango with a grand terrace and view to volcano Agua. I share the same street with my whole family, though each one of us has their own house. Every Sunday we all have lunch together.
The cooking school is located on the first floor of my house. We are in the process of adding a new kitchen on the rooftop terrace. I work with a local chef, my cousin. Most of our clients are foreigners therefore I need help translating the classes and food tours from Spanish to English. I am always looking how to improve the experience of our classes and tours, and love to have creative input and help from international volunteers. Another of my main goals is learning English so any help would be highly appreciated.
Last but not least this workaway is 100% ‘covivencia chapina’: live and experience the local life.

The volunteers will stay in a private room in my colonial house in Jocotenango. We share the bathroom and kitchen. I have good working WiFi. You can use the kitchens, terrace and patio. Everything is on walking distance: shops, supermarkets and markets here in Jocotenango. Also Antigua is easily reached by foot - especially if you like to walk - it takes about 30 to 40 minutes. By bus more or less 15 minutes depending the traffic, costing 2Q. Also you can travel by tuck tuck, costing 15 to 20Q. I do have some bicycles volunteers can use, cycling you will be a lot faster!
Jocotenango is close to Antigua, Guatemala well known touristic colonial hotspot. You therefore will be able to enjoy the very typical Guatemala life without the touristic prices of Antigua and still be close to the town.What else ...
