Description
We are an outdoor adventure company offering watersports and activities from the beautiful Desaru Coast beach in East Johor. We work on the beach all year round offering the public and holidaymakers great experiences from surfing, sailing, kayaking to jetskis and ATVs. We are looking for fun energetic individuals to spend some time with us. You will learn lots of skills on watersports, marine safety and get a chance to really immerse in truly Malaysian local culture and hospitality. It's great fun.
We also run loads of team building events on the beach. Corporate companies engage us to have some 'serious fun' with their staff, playing a bunch of carefully created challenges that gently reinforce the usual team building buzz words: leadership, communication, listening, encouragement, etc, etc. If you're with us during these bookings you'll definitely be involved in helping run these engagements. The staff have as much fun doing these as the guests do.

Desaru is an up and coming destination with a huge amount of investment however it remains at its heart a sleepy, very friendly slice of Malaysian coastal rural life. People here are as relaxed as they come - a great contrast from Kuala Lumpur and the polar opposite of the Khao San Road. With that said we are still just a quick drive to Johor Bahru or a short ferry hop to Singapore.
Help
We run a watersports operation and activity centre so the help is centred around looking after guests when they arrive, filling in consent forms, providing safety briefings, getting equipment ready, helping guests on the water, maintaining equipment, using the equipment yourself and generally having some fun in the sun.
Idealy you will have a background in water sports, boats, jetskis etc.
We also have a range of roles for mechanics; skilled professional carpenters; plumbers; and all areas of maintenance.
We are looking for all rounders who are keen to help out where needed.
Our local staff are just as keen to learn from you as you are from us - especially to improve their language skills.

Accommodation
We'll put you up in decent accommodation locally and pay for meals. There are a couple of options and it depends what is available at the time. We are not looking for a large number of workawayers to help out - just one or two so we have plenty of space.

We have struggled to build confidence with our local staff when interacting with foreign guests and the Workaway bi-lateral cultural exchange has made a big difference to our staff confidence.
Some key things Workawayers help us with:
A. bringing a more professional approach to customer interactions – our staff learn huge amounts from this
B. pushing our staff to speak English much more throughout the day
C. Our staff get to hang out with ‘Westerners’ as friends which makes their customer interactions (with Western tourists) less intimidating for themselves
D. Our staff get to learn about each Workaway’s culture and our staff enjoy teaching them theirs – food, language etc. So far we have had many different people from all ages, walks of life and different countries. It’s been really interesting and helpful for our staff

Our stay here was an amazing experience filled with different tasks.
The team was welcoming, and we even made friends with the staff over the weeks.
The accommodation is frankly a very good deal and is not far from the shops.
