Our boat yard is located right near the base of Waimea Canyon on the sunny west side of Kauaʻi.
Na Pali Coast is regarded as the most beautiful portion of all of Hawaii and we run a boat tour company that specializes in touring and snorkeling this incredible coast line. We need your help keeping these boats clean and fit for touring.
Help with Eco project
This of course would allow you to take full advantage of Kauaʻi during the day time. If youre the independent time and really just want a great deal that allows you a great amount of time off, this is ideal for you. In addition, workawayers would get be able to join (as often as they want) a Na Pali Coast tour at any time provided there are open seats (a somewhat common and likely occurrence daily). This is the number 1 activity in Hawaii and is normally very expensive but you could go for free unlimited and really cherry pick those perfect weather days. Workawayers would likely make friends with the captains and crew and other workawayers (weʻll have 2 to 3 at a time) which could open up some opportunities to do fun things with new friends (canʻt promise compatibility but Iʻll always try to pick cool and friendly workawayers haha). Workawayers can expect to learn a lot about boats (if interested) and even a little about the business side of things if they are curious and want to learn.
This host offers accommodation and payment.
Enjoy great working hours (only 2.5 - 3 hours per day on average and in the evenings). This means youʻll have nearly every single day off (with the exception of 1 day per 2 weeks to help with a more thorough cleaning).
Most of the work will be in the evenings; cleaning the boats and restocking snacks / beverages. Every other week or so, there will be a more detailed cleaning involving power washers, light cleaning chemicals, wax, buffers, etc that will need to be done during daylight hours. Manager/teacher on site to teach proper technique.
Workawayers would stay on a large fenced in yard (legally zoned commercial residential) where the boats are also kept at night (convenient right? haha). This yard has a hot water outdoor shower, bathroom, unlimited use of electricity and water, a refrigerator, freezer, brand new BBQ grille, microwave, internet, etc. Additionally, within 2 minutes walking there are 2 snack shops open from 6am-8pm that offer a decent amount of snack/food options.
Attention= We need all workawayers to be very clear that you are literally camping at a boat yard. Yes we have all the amenities listed above as well as a shed with a few beds in it, but this is not a house or anything even close to it. If you are looking to explore Kauaʻi and live very humbly in the meantime, and have a lot of time off, this is perfect for you since we only are asking for about 20 hours of help per week (2-3 hours per night 7 days a week).
Our yard is located right near the base of Waimea Canyon on the sunny west side of Kauaʻi. The Waimea canyon has a plethora of some of the most incredible hikes in the State. Less than a 5 minute walk is a bus stop that links to the entire island. Workawayers can also enjoy the sunny beaches of the west side of Kauaʻi (Boat yard is literally 2 minutes walking distance from the beach). Workawayers need to be reliable, trust worthy, and respectable. Preferably the independent yet adventurous type. Mahalo! :)
