We are Katrin and Mona, and we were present in Nepal during the earthquake times... since then we have devoted ourselves to do our part, in Nepal's reconstruction.
We've set up different projects in the fields of training, earthquake proof building, and education, and we gather people from all around the world willing to use their skills to make a difference!
You will live the authentic life of a Nepali village, people are very friendly, and ready to befriend with you around here, and the kids from the school will be delighted to spend time with you whenever you have time!
By now, we have taken 34 disadvantaged children to school, and we ensure their schooling until grade 10. Further we engaged ourselves for the ten years to come to help the schoolthat they go to to create a better educational environment.
The project we need help for at the moment is about early childhood education. Teachers are very poorly trained and have little knowledge about educational methods adapted to the kids age and interests.
We've done introduction session, about early childhood education, about non violent education, about teaching with empathy... and our friend Eva cooperated with the playgroup teacher to create a better environment for the kids. Now we need longer lasting training.
We are looking for teachers, or early childhood experienced educators to inspire, to assist, teach and cooperate with our kindergarten teachers, and to plant the seeds of a better education. They are very eager to learn, and to get new skills for teaching their little students.
You tasks may be for example to help them to set up a daily routine, to organize with them learning games and activities etc.
We need independent competent and self reliant people, ready to really make and change for Nepal's education.
There is 4 classrooms that need help:
PG: 2-3 years old
Nursery: 3 years olds
LKG: 4 years old
UKG 5 years old
Depending of the time you can stay you might as well focus on only one of them
you will also take part in the tuition sessions after school of very small group of kids ( 3 to 4) together with a more experienced Nepali teacher for the older kids of our program who are very late in their studies.
Please contact us for any further questions! Note that if you are two travelers, and one of you has different skills we can talk about setting up an other project for the second person!

The school is located in a village just outside Kathmandu, it is a very quiet and friendly environment. We newly took an apartment to host volunteers, just 5 minutes away from the school through the fields. We will ask you for a small contribution to pay off the rent ( 2€ a day)
the apartment has 2 bedrooms, one living room, and a big kitchen. There is water (cold) inside the house, which is quite a luxury around here. There are local shops just 5 minutes away, and kids playing everywhere around. We have nice neighbors and friends, who will be happy to befriend with you and to help you out.
You will eat lunch at the school cantine on school days ( sunday to friday) and you will be independent with your own kitchen the rest of the time
Goldhunga is not far away from Kathmandu, it is already in the fields but the bus that passes in the village will take you to the main bus park where you can catch any bus to go pretty much anywhere. Goldhunga is nice to walk around, and there will be many people to get to know, many kids to play with, and also you own apartment to relax, and find your own space.
