    Description

Experience a delightful stay on Water Island, USVI, while lending a hand in restoring our charming wooden sailboat from the 1960s.
My husband, Stephan, who literally learned to walk on Malu as a baby, has cherished memories aboard the family sailboat.
Stephan was born in the US Virgin Islands, and he spent some of his childhood years in Germany, where part of his family is from. I'm Julie, from France, I met Stephan during a workaway exchange :)
Together, we're revitalizing it to embark on new adventures. Join us as we restore Malu to its former glory, preparing to live aboard and sail the seas.

If you're new to restoring wooden sailboats, this is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in every aspect of the process and perhaps even discover the joys of sailing along the way. You'll have the chance to join us in exploring the surrounding islands, including the Saint John National Park just 45 minutes away in our dinghy. We'd be thrilled to take you on a tour of Saint Thomas and its stunning beaches.
You'll become part of a beautiful adventure, living in a truly special place nestled beside the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.

    Help

We're seeking assistance with various tasks to work on the boat, including restoring the hull, sanding, stripping paint, painting, varnishing, sanding the deck, conducting woodworking to replace old planks, caulking the hull during haul-out, installing new batteries and the new inverter, as well as sanding and painting the deck, addressing the broken lazaret hatch by fixing and varnishing it. Additionally, we need help inspecting and potentially replacing failing rigging.
Your expertise and enthusiasm are invaluable in bringing Malu back to life for our future seafaring adventures.
