    Description

We are aware that this pandemic has gotten the best of us, but we are happy to share our farm with you- our little hideaway. The farm was established in 2019 with the vision to restore and propagate the natural flora and fauna of 9 acres of agricultural land in Najafgarh, New Delhi. We are an urban farming and community space that’s being shaped up as a refuge for all the bees, birds, butterflies, cows, insects and other animals that call our farm their home. We are using slow and small solutions to reach a state of balance with nature by practicing natural farming, permaculture design, agroforestry, native habitat restoration, composting, etc. It has been almost one year that we started working intensively on the land and slowly it has started to shape up.

We have two families living on the farm with five children aged between 3-8 years. In your free time, you can play with them. You can also spend time in the gaushala. Our farm is located right next to a wetland. So you are encouraged to research on the birds that visit the farm. There is a market very nearby and also public transport connectivity.

    Our achievements so far:
2.5 acres big market garden for seasonal vegetables and herbs that we sell in order to run the farm
    Intensive hot compost piles
    Vermicomposting
Nursery for various plants- native, medicinal, support species, fruits, grasses, vegetables, herbs and flowers
    Food forest
    Grey water recycling
    Lots of mulching
    Permaculture veggie patch
Bamboo outdoor shed with sarkanda thatching
    IPM & INM interventions
    Waste management system
Gaushala which is home to 5 cows and 4 bulls
    Future projects:
    Compost toilet
    Seed bank
    Rainwater harvesting
    Habitat creation for endangered birds
    Research on native ecology
Natural construction using mud, lime and bamboo
    Land design using permaculture principles
    Maintenance of existing systems
    Expanding nursery operations
    Native trees planting
    Orchard management
    Propagating medicinal plants

Summer is a tough time for the farm when extra care and attention needs to go in protecting the soil, the plants and also yourself! So ditch the city and move in with us. We’re taking 4-8 people this summer.

We will not let the pandemic rain on our parade. Join the community and let’s create beautiful things together.
