  • Description

Hello! We are brothers, artists and Mayan spiritual guides who founded our Galeria the name of which refers to the sacred writings in the book of the Mayan Cosmovision.

The seed of this project was planted by the grandfather. He was an artisan working together in a leather workshop with his son who then collaborated with local brothers who started their first steps in painting. The first pillars of the gallery were established through these three generations: grandfather, father and sons to create the Galeria.

Our family has coordinated many creative activities to promote art and education with local youth and adults in Chichicastenango. Since founding the gallery, the family has been able to achieve and strengthen Mayan art as well as assist many groups to develop various art and cultural proposals and projects.

The gallery has received many international visitors who have an interest in art and Mayan culture. Our goals are to rescue, strengthen, and contribute to the enrichment of our artistic cultural identity and the recovery of the knowledge and wisdom of our Mayan philosophy and identity. We seek to promote the Mayan culture through various art and cultural proposals and projects including painting, artisan crafts, ceramics, sculpture as well as other aspects.

    Utz a petik ° Bienvenidos ° Welcome

We are always seeking to connect with other artists, teachers, and people to facilitate cultural exchanges with visitors from around the world to help teach, promote and conserve the traditional Mayan culture. We have many projects underway that need support and assistance to help further growth and connection locally and internationally.

Currently, we are hoping to build small cabaña style homes for volunteers and guests who come to practice art, K’iche' Maya language, and partake in traditional Mayan ceremonies. We have been preserving the traditions, language and culture of our ancestors and are always seeking to collaborate with local art museums and organizations, recycling and environmental projects, as well as language groups.

We are open to new ideas to continue preserving and promoting the traditional Mayan culture as well as facilitating music, art and cultural exchanges.

Maltiox ° Gracias ° Thank You
