    POSITION FILLED !

**The paid position starts in May. We are looking for someone to work at the guinguette friday and saturday nights (5 or 6 hours each day) and eventually sunday lunch. Maximum 15 hours a week. The tasks will be primarily kitchen work. Helping prepare, cook and serve pizza and other food items. Kitchen experience is not necessary but a strong interest in cooking and ability to work quickly is.
    Speaking french is mandatory.**

    Our project is just beginning.

Here in Normandy, we are surrounded by farmland and bordered by the sea. Our little farm is only 8 km from the coast. Here, on old family property, pastures and a neglected orchard, we are building a small farm, a gathering place, a "guinguette", a garden party. Whatever you call it, it’s a place you want to be. This is a place to enjoy a beer (from our own brewery) and a good pizza with a view of the countryside, beautiful sunset, a space for the children to play and sometimes a concert.

We are not a conventional farm as such but rather a homestead; a place to live based on the principles of respect for life. Growing slowly and learning as we go.

We grow our own vegetables and fruits and we use them as well for the guinguette. We also raise poultry and a few sheep.

During the winter we welcome volunteers from all over the world and we do a lot! Here is a small summary of some things that kept us busy:
    - swales were dug and more than 160 trees and shrubs as well as many perennials were
planted to act as a windbreak and water trap.
    - we pruned some old pollarded trees and neglected pommiers to have large poles and plenty of firewood.
    - a large vegetable garden is established and expanding each year
    - berry patches are started and an asparagus patch is now 2 years old
    - two greenhouses are ready to produce tons of tomatoes for PIZZA!!
    - old buildings are being saved and repaired where needed.
    - a dry hedge is growing to provide extra protection for the garden.
    - landscaping and installation of the guinguette space.

This winter and spring we will be focused on readying the farm to welcome guests again this summer from May to September. We have renovated three caravans to function as a kitchen, a bar and a storage. We have a big, wood fired, earth oven to feed us with pizza, bread and other good dishes from our garden. It fell at the end of the summer and needs to be rebuilt. A good amount of time will be spent expanding, preparing and planting the garden.

    ~~

We are offering to pay 12 euros per hour (gross). Accommodation is provided, plus 3 meals on the days worked.

    ~~

If you come to spend time here, you will become a part of the family. We love spending time at the beach on sunny summer days and playing boardgames or partying in the kitchen when it's rainy.
We will be happy to show you around when there is time and we have bikes available for your independent exploration.

    About us:
Delphine is from here and Blake is from Canada. We met in Canada a few years ago and fell in
love. We also fell in love with our idea of creating our ideal lifestyle; a small farm where we can
host our family and friends, past and future. So we decided to do it here. Delphine has worked in events in France and around the world. Blake was a chef in Canada, brewer, baker and passionate forager. Translating these skills and hobbies into a family lifestyle has always been his plan.
Ily was born here in April 2023. She's a little goofball who loves to laugh. For now she is super social and loves meeting new people.
Also in the family is Rox who lived at the SPCA for about a year until he was adopted. He is very affectionate, a little exuberant, but overall he is a pretty cool dog.
Although we are new to the platform, we have both spent time traveling via wwoofing/helpx. We enjoyed those experiences so much, it was a no-brainer for us to welcome helpers into our home.
