    Description

    Hi workawayers !
We are a family of four, Nicolas and Stephanie, and our two boys Vincent and William (6 and 4 in 2023). Nicolas and I both work at home, he as a program developer, and I as a therapist. We enjoy music, traveling, renovating, hiking, quiet quality time with loved ones and guests, and occasional board games. We are joyful to share our beautiful home environment, and open our kids' experience to welcoming unknown guests, exchanging stories of travel and adventure, discovering the ways of other cultures... As for now (2023), we focus on English-speaking guests, so as to develop the kids' fluency in this language.

We live in an extraordinary house that is both peacefully lodged, alone, in a unique foresty valley, and five minutes drive / thirty minutes walk from the nearby township with all necessities ! We have been living here since jan 2022, and consistently upgrade the house to make it evermore welcoming and eco-friendly.

Musicians, you are welcome ! We love spontanuous musical moments, and have organised an area for instruments in our living room : drum kit, guitars... we'd love to hear you join in!
Hiking and mountain climbing are available on foot from our house! Multiple opportunities for mountain sports in summer as well as winter season around.

We are also 40 minutes away from Grenoble, to the South, in the beautiful surroundings of the Trièves region. In the Trièves you will find plenty of alternative projects and open-minded people, and a cultural life that has astounded us when we moved here.
Welcome and see you soon !!

Note : We are also searching for a solo or couple workaways from the beginning (or mid) September, ideally at least two weeks to 1 month, lodging in the forest cabin.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are eager to share with our guests, welcoming cultural exchange, cross-discovering of our favourite home-tasting foods, our visions of life... Let's exchange recipes and cooking experiences ! :) Taking care and playing with our kids will also allow language learning on both sides, and discovering our humble attempt at "Connected Parenting" in a French cultural setting.
Playing music together is also a powerfully connecting experience... We sometimes host concerts at home, which are great occasions for cultural and social exchange.
We are on a spiritual journey and are open to discussing spiritual visions worldwide, in a respectful and non-judging atmosphere. Stephanie can also offer you therapy sessions and energetically / spiritual initiations, if you have an interest in learning things related.

  • Help

    Help

The help we need is primarily entered around the kids: Driving the kids to and from school, offering activities for them on Wednesdays, globally being open to playing and exchanging with them, so that both workawayer and children benefit from the cultural and linguistic immersion.
When the kids are at school, we would welcome some help in the house, depending on what each person enjoys doing: occasional tying up / cleaning, meal prep / cooking of personal specialities to share our favorites, help with the washing... Outdoor work can include firewood cutting and stacking, lawn mowing...
If you have some competence in building, repairs, wood-working, etc... you are also welcome to offer them and come and stay ! We would be glad for some help in the upgrading of the house !

We speak French at home as our mother language. Nicolas and I are fluent in English, and we are searching for English-speaking guests to help our kids become more fluent in this language. When the kids are at school, we are open to speaking French and helping guests interested in learning this language to acquire more fluency themselves.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accommodation : We can provide accommodation for one guest, a couple, or two people ok to sleep in the same room.
Our house counts a guestroom in which we can host workawayers, where you will share bathroom, toilets and living area with us. A craft room is in the process of being installed (help welcome if you are inspired !).
We also have a wooden cabin built right into the trees, with inside shower and toilets, for those who would enjoy an immersive experience in Nature.
Please note that our house and cabin are non smocking.

Food : We are flexitarian foodies, aim at quality food and local beers, eat little but quality meat, can accommodate for vegetarian and vegan (currently I am trying vegan out for myself! I would love to share ideas, experience and recipes).
We try to avoid (especially) processed sugar but stay mild in this. Subsequently we don’t eat / make deserts in the evening, and they are rare but appreciated at lunch.
We enjoy mixing specialities from around the world and would love to share favourites with you !
Our kids enjoy preparing food with us, and at 6 and 4, they have their favourites they like to prepare themselves to share. Be ready for fun participative cooking time :)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

During your free time, there will be plenty of time to explore the Trièves region, one of the dynamic, regions of France where eco-transition, co-creation and well-being strongly vibrate. Many interesting people to go meet !
From May to September, there are numerous concerts and festivals all around.
There are also numerous walks for all levels in our beautiful mountainous landscapes.
We also have one electric bike that we are ready to lend on occasion. Another (non-electric) mountain bike needs a good rehaul, not having been used in a while. With pleasure if you are competent in the matter!
Climbers welcome! Climbing gear available for climbing the great sites nearby ! One climbing site accessible on foot from our house!!
