    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying with us in rural East Galway offers a peaceful retreat into the Irish countryside and a unique opportunity to work closely with three rescue dogs who each have their own story. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting dogs who have overcome trauma, anxiety, and medical challenges—learning to care for animals who require patience, understanding, and trust-building. It’s a chance to deepen your connection with animals in a meaningful way, while also improving your English through daily conversation and shared routines in a quiet, natural setting.

    Help

I'm looking for help caring for my three rescue dogs this summer. I usually work from home full-time, but for 2–3 weeks at the end of July, I will be working in Galway City and away for extended periods—either during the day or from afternoon into the evening. I need someone who can commit to being at the house for at least 4–5 hours a day to take care of feeding, walking, toilet breaks, and general supervision. The dogs are very relaxed and spend much of the day snoozing, so the role doesn’t require constant interaction, and you will still have plenty of free time. On the days I’m not working, you’ll have the opportunity to explore County Galway and beyond.

    Accommodation

You will have your own private bedroom with both a double and a single bed, plus a large private bathroom with a shower. The room is bright, comfortable, and ideal for individuals, couples, or friends traveling together. Towels and bed linen are provided. You'll also have full access to a fully equipped kitchen with everything needed for cooking, tea, and coffee-making, as well as use of the washing machine.

The house has internet and heating throughout. For relaxing, there's a TV with a wide range of digital channels including Netflix, Now TV, and Amazon Prime. Food will be provided, and you're welcome to make yourself at home.

Shared spaces are the Kitchen and Sitting room. You will share this space with the dogs and I. Otherwise you will have plenty of privacy. There is an outdoor area you’re welcome to enjoy as well.

We will provide food and groceries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this will be in line with the Workawayer’s dietary requirements, where reasonable. Breakfast is typically continental-style, and lunch and dinner can be planned together based on your preferences and needs. Whether we share meals or you prefer to cook for yourself, we're happy to make arrangements that work for both sides and ensure you’re well-fed during your stay.

    What else ...

I currently host French school groups for 3- to 4-night full-board stays during March, April, and May—a role I’ve enjoyed since 2023, with consistently positive feedback. In the summers of 2018 and 2019, I hosted guests through another platform, earning 59 five-star reviews and achieving Superhost status. More recently, I welcomed two families through TrustedHousesitters in 2024, both of whom left five-star reviews. I’m an experienced and welcoming host, and my home is fully equipped to comfortably accommodate visitors.
