    Description

Due to a lot of tasks to be done, our team mainly comprises of local volunteers from the community who are on a regular stipend monthly. We have four teams with four team leaders taking care of each team.
We have our main site and two other small sites where we do production of seedlings and a conservation site on the hilltops where our restoration activities are taking place.
All the four sites have team leaders and their assistants who assign tasks, ensure discipline, report progress, challenges, request for resources needed and also prepare monthly reports among st other tasks. Then we have an overall secretary based in our main project site who receives the reports from our other sites and compile them into one and share them with our partners.
we have a total of 15 local volunteers involved in our work comprising of 8 females and 7 males.

DAILY TASKS OF THE TEAM MEMBERS.

They perform tasks like seed collection, transplanting, weeding, watering, harvesting, propagation of seeds amongst other routine management practices of a farm and a tree nursery. And the International volunteers work alongside them to share their experience , guide them. This will facilitate and promote the cultural exchange ,interaction and learning that the whole workaway organization is promoting.

    ABOUT ME

I am a young man of 40 years who is married and has a wife with three kids, two grown up girls and a young boy of threes years. We live together as a family. Personally i am a social worker by training and also a well known and widely traveled environmentalist working at the grassroots through our the organization I founded to fight and educate people about climate change.

    ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION

    Permaculture and Agroforestry project.
Our organization is a permaculture and agroforestry center training and demonstrating to people about permaculture and also working with local schools and community to plant the over 65,000 seedlings we are producing from our three tree nurseries.

Our center's main focus is the fight against climate change and we are aggressively involved in protecting and rehabilitation an indigenous forest by planting trees, controlling erosion and limiting grazing to allow natural regeneration of the local trees species of which some are threatened.

These efforts came about when we noticed dwindling fortunes especially when we noticed high level of natural resources depletion and loss of biodiversity and ecosystems in the Rusinga island, which made the islands vegetation cover to grow less day by day.
