Join our family-run English Academy & Tech Club in authentic Pimampiro!

    About Us & Our Project:
Hello travelers! I am the director of a private English academy located in the beautiful, welcoming town of Pimampiro, Ecuador. We are a passionate, family-run operation dedicated to giving our local students the best education possible.

Our core project is teaching English, but we have recently launched an exciting "Digital Student Club." Our goal is to equip our youth with modern, real-world skills to thrive in a digital world. We teach them photography, basic web creation, and how to build digital catalogs for local clothing stores and restaurants (focusing purely on the creative and tech development side, not paid marketing).

You will be working directly with me and my brother, who is our media director and handles our professional photography and drone projects.

    Our Home & Family:

When you stay with us, you are truly part of the family. You will be staying in a comfortable room in our traditional family home, and the absolute best part of your stay will be the food! My mother is an amazing cook, and she prepares delicious, authentic Ecuadorian meals for us daily.

We love connecting with people from all over the world. In my free time, I am highly interested in classical philosophy (especially Aristotle and Plato) and I am currently studying the French language. If you enjoy deep philosophical conversations, or if you happen to speak French and want to practice with me, we will get along perfectly!

    Our Local Area:
Pimampiro is a hidden gem, often called the "Tierra del Sol" (Land of the Sun). It is a peaceful, authentic Ecuadorian town where you can experience the real culture away from the crowded tourist traps.

If you love the outdoors, you will never want to leave! We are surrounded by lush, wild nature, medicinal forests, and incredible biodiversity. Depending on where you hike, you can spot amazing local fauna, from hummingbirds and eagles to the famous Andean spectacled bears in the surrounding reserves.

Because your schedule gives you completely free mornings and free weekends, you will have plenty of time to explore the mountains and valleys. Best of all, we have beautiful, clean rivers right in our area (like the Mataqui) where you can hike down, swim, and relax in the water on a sunny day. It is the perfect place to disconnect, swim in nature, and enjoy the authentic Andean landscape!

What you will get out of this experience:

Authentic Local Immersion: You will experience real Ecuadorian daily life away from the tourist bubbles. You will be staying in a comfortable family environment where you can enjoy traditional, delicious local meals cooked daily.

Guided Nature & Exploration: We know all the best hidden spots in Pimampiro! We would be happy to point you toward—or even take you to—our favorite clean rivers (like the Mataqui) to swim, or the best trails in the surrounding forests and reserves during your free time.

Community Integration: We are very active in Pimampiro! We frequently participate in and sponsor local festivities. By working with our students and local business owners, you will be welcomed by the town as a friend, not a passing tourist.

Professional & Tech Exchange: Because we are actively launching a digital media company alongside the academy, we are more than happy to share our knowledge of drone photography, digital project building, and what it takes to run a local business in South America.

Spanish Practice: Being in an authentic town interacting with our students and local business owners is the perfect environment to practice and improve your Spanish in real-world scenarios.

    The Schedule:

We ask for 4.5 hours of help per day, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Your mornings and weekends are 100% free for you to hike, swim in the local rivers, or work on your own projects!

    What you will be doing:

Conversation Ambassador (Monday - Thursday): You do NOT need to be a formal teacher, grade papers, or plan complex lessons! We simply want you to join our classes to chat with our students, play games, share stories about your travels, and help them build confidence speaking English with a foreigner.

Digital Club Mentor (Fridays): Once a week, you will help guide our new "Digital Student Club." If you have any skills in photography, video editing, basic web creation, or coding, we would love your input! We are teaching our youth how to build digital catalogs for local businesses, so any creative or technical guidance you can share is highly valued.

Language Exchange (Bonus/Optional): I am currently learning French! If you happen to be a French speaker, I would love to do a casual language exchange with you during our free time to practice my pronunciation.

Our Language Exchange Goals: Our primary requirement is that you are highly fluent in English, as your main role will be helping our youth build their conversational confidence. However, you do NOT need to be a native speaker! We welcome volunteers from all over the world. Whether you are from Germany, France, or anywhere else, as long as your English is strong, we would love to host you. Introducing our students to different nationalities, accents, and global cultures is a huge part of our educational mission.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    Your Room:
You will be staying in a clean, comfortable, and secure room inside our traditional family home in Pimampiro. You will have a proper bed to rest and plenty of space to store your backpack and belongings.

    The Food (A Huge Bonus!):

Forget about cooking instant pasta in crowded hostel kitchens! We provide three meals a day. My mother is a fantastic cook, and she prepares traditional, delicious, and hearty Ecuadorian meals for us daily. You will eat with us and get to experience the real local cuisine.

    Our House Guidelines:

Because you will be living in a real family home rather than a party hostel, we simply ask for basic mutual respect. We expect you to keep your room tidy, clean up after yourself, and respect reasonable quiet hours at night. We are very welcoming and love treating our volunteers like extended family!

Hosts are expected to provide 3 meals a day in exchange for up to 25 hours a week of help (with 2 full days off). Shared meals are a great way of enjoying a cultural exchange, but when this isn’t possible, ingredients or a stipend may be provided for Workawayers to cook for themselves.
