Description
Tourists looking for pop entertainment and parties until the morning usually choose the city area of Palanga resort. The main resort of Lithuania is expanding rapidly, so there are alternative places for nature lovers who want to escape from the hustle of the city and enjoy other tourism, as well as ecological entertainment. We want that travelers could see a completely different face of the city. Visiting "must-see" objects is becoming unfashionable, tourists want to get to know the area through experiences and people's lifestyles. Slow Tourism offers just that. Slow tourism is foremost a state of mind, a philosophy of life. A slow traveler has a specific lifestyle when traveling. This sets him or her apart from the regular tourist.
Speed destroys the connection between man and nature, and slower travel allows that connection to be maintained.
Our campsite is located in Palanga. In the old Curonian village, in a strategically very convenient place - only 15 km from the center of Palanga, 9 km from Palanga International Airport, 3 km to the Latvian border and only 2.5 km to the Baltic Sea. At a distance of 1.5 km from the campsite, the river Šventoji flows and still flows in the same valleys, remains as whimsical and mysterious as in ancient times and still sacred to some. The location of the campsite is very favorable for travelers, as it is only 55 km to Klaipeda Central Terminal (international ferry) and 59 km to Liepaja Port (Latvian international ferry).
For lovers of campers, caravans and tents, we offer recreation surrounded by nature, leisure with water entertainment, culture and history. Travel around natural, little-touched nature. Those who want to touch the Way of Camino de Santiago have a great opportunity to do it in Lithuania and it is not necessary to hit the edge of the world at all - sometimes good things are right around the place. Therefore, it is time to start one of the four international Camino Lituano pilgrimage-cultural-tourist St. Jacob's way. Samogitian / Karaliaučius route of St.Jacob's begins in the north of our country, at the Lithuanian-Latvian border.
For history lovers we offering to get acquainted with the history of the village.
This is the northernmost seaside village in western Lithuania. Of the 99 kilometers of Lithuania's Baltic coast, most of it is on the Curonian Spit, which in turn is firmly and clearly separated from the rest of Lithuania. Mainland Lithuania has access to the sea in a narrow, forty-kilometer section between Būtingė and Melnragė. It is an interesting region, now purely Lithuanian, but from the Middle Ages V-VI centuries Curonians lived on the Lithuanian and Latvian coasts. In the middle of the ninth century, the Curonians and their lands were described in the chronicle of Rimbert, and the Swedish-Norwegian and even Icelandic sagas began to sing the brave Viking expeditions by sea to the eastern countries, without bypassing the Curonian Spit. The Curonian soldiers also quickly understood the art of navigation and, gathered in friendships, invaded the Baltic Sea area, perhaps even hooking up the expanses of the North Sea. The Curonian Vikings did the same thing as the Scandinavians - they organized long sea trips, traded and looted on the coast. From the begining of XIII century belonged to the Livonian Ordin. The name was given to the settlement from the surname of its founders, the Curonian landowners Bodendieck. Manor Budendieckhof was founded in 1507 and is on the right bank of the Holy River near the road in front of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, reminiscent of an interesting history and one of the oldest in Lithuania. Nearby was a village - twelve farms of Budendik manor. Lovers of the history of the German city of Bodenteich believe that the name of the place was given by a knight of their ruler's family Von Bodendieck. 1507m. XVIa. pr. The first written knowledge reached about the village, which was being established near Šventoji.Types of help and learning opportunities
