Description
Hey everyone!
I am Julia and I run a coffee shop with a simple menu and about 80 seats. It is only open in the summer. The Franska Kaffihusid is at Rauðasandur in the southern part of the Westfjords of Iceland. I am looking for a couple or two friends who are willing to work in the kitchen as well as at the counter and serve the guests.
The café is located at the breathtaking beach which is surrounded by black cliffs and is home to about 200 seals. Along the 13 km long beach are only three active farms. The next town, Patreksfjörður, is about 40 mins away by car. There you can get everything for your daily needs.
I am from Germany, but came to Iceland in 2015 as an aupair in Patreksfjörður and spent most of my time in Iceland since.Types of help and learning opportunities

There are several places in the area to explore! :)
Látrabjarg, the biggest bird cliff in Europe, is 49 km away and breading place to e.g. puffins, guillemots, and fulmars.
On the way to Látrabjarg is the heritage museum at Hnjótur which shows you the old way of life in the area and the difficult rescue mission at the cliffs of 1947.
In Patreksfjörður there is access to public transport to Tálknafjörður, Bíldudalur, and Ísafjörður.
In the town you can find a cinema, pharmacy, two supermarkets, a post office, a bar, three restaurants and a swimming pool.
It is possible to rent kayaks and bikes at Westfjords Adventures and there are several hiking trails around.
Waterfalls are uncountable in Iceland, but Dynjandi, the biggest waterfall of the Westfjords, shows its magic after a 1.5 hour drive.Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

I am looking for friendly, open-minded people who could start working as soon as possible until the end of August for five days a week (8h per shift). The shift at the café will mainly be from 12 am to 8 pm, but the hours can be flexible if you are interested in preparing the meals before the opening hours. Otherwise, your tasks will involve serving the guests, taking care of the orders, cleaning, dishwashing, making waffles in the waffle maker, sometimes baking a simple cakes or soups (with our assistance). We will have at least three people working together per shift.
Starting wages for 1 month is 370.000 ISK for 168 hours of daytime (between 7am and 6pm, no more than 8 hours in a row though). For every hour until 6pm (for work up to the minimal 168 hours) the pay is 2304 ISK per hour. For every hour over the minimal 168 hours the pay will be 3187 ISK per hour.
Since it is a remote place, I am looking for people who are independent, honest, responsible, and optimistic. We expect our employees to be friendly and respectful to all guests as well as coworkers.
It would be great if you speak English fluently and I would appreciate it if you are open-minded to some Icelandic basics so you are able to understand our Icelandic guests, who usually make up about 50% of the guests. (No worries - I am happy to help :))
A driver's license is necessary since there is no public transportation close by.Languages spoken

Beside the Café there is a free accommodation for all employees.
The accommodation is a shared cabin with a small bathroom (max. 2 people) and kitchen. You can get soup, bread and butter at the café on your working days (since it's the only hot meal we are offering), but outside of work you need to supply your food yourself. Since this cabin is the only accommondation that is available close by, it would be great to have two people who know each other well. :)What else ...
All in all, I will hire two people who can stay until the end of August at this magical place.
You will have the chance to get to know new people, learn about the Icelandic mentality, and dive into a great adventure.
If necessary I can help you come to the Westfjords, if you manage to come to Reykjavik.
If you have any questions, no matter if it is something personal, business-related, or anything else, please don't hesitate to contact me.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. Take care!
