Adventurous and motivated volunteers are needed for help with ecological projects.
Learn how to grow, plant, and care for trees; use a machete; speak Spanish; build with bamboo; and more!
Housing is provided in a centrally located apartment.
The project has been hosting volunteers, teaching environmental principles, and planting trees for over 15 years! This is a non-profit organization project that serves the local community and environment. As such, we charge a small fee of $5/day, which includes lodging.

In addition to community-based ecological project work, visitors can enjoy excellent ocean and wilderness recreational activities, opportunities to improve Spanish skills, and an insider's experience of tropical Ecuadorian culture.
Connect with locals and learn about coastal Ecuador culture in a way that no tourist could.
Two week minimum stay, one month (or more) is recommended.
Volunteers work 25 hours per week on the following project activities:
1. Greenhouse construction and operation (big part of our project):
- Mix and preparing soil
- Make compost
- Collect and plant seeds
- Transplant seedlings
- Water, weed, and general maintenance
2. Reforestation site work:
- Plant trees
- Water trees
3. Agriculture:
-Help farmers with reforestation practices
-Learn about agriculture here
3. Environmental education:
- Participate with children and adults in ecological activities and workshops (if interested in this, inquire before to make beforehand, we have 8 week courses)
This is also the perfect opportunity for an international internship for environmental studies students or career-building field experience for recent graduates.

Accommodation, up to 4 visitors at a time, is provided in an apartment with two dormitories.
Visitors have access to the kitchen, internet, and bicycles (being fixed) for getting around town.
Food is not provided in the fee.
This is a safe and clean little city. It is a great place to get to know for a month, or two, or three. You can stroll around town, visit the beach, hang out on the beach wall, and make friends with locals.
In their free time, volunteers and interns can learn how to surf, visit local ecological and cultural points of interest, and hang out with friend locals in this quaint little coastal city.
