We are a family of 3 living in the Highlands of Scotland.
We are looking for a workawayer to help entertain our 12 year old son during his school holidays (which always coincide with our busy times) and also to help us to maintain our garden. We run the garden organically and grow our own fruit, vegetables and herbs. No previous experience is required.
You will have your own room and we will provide you with 3 meals a day, which you'll eat with us. We'd appreciate your help preparing or cleaning up after meals.
You will also be expected to help with some of the household tasks like clearing up after meals, laying the table, vacuuming etc.
Gregor (our son) has taken an interest in learning to speak German so if you can help him with this ambition he would be eternally grateful. He's also keen to improve his ability to play traditional music on his acoustic guitar.

Help around the house
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Travellers will definitely learn about our area especially the nature and culture. There will probably be the opportunity for cultural exchanges with people from all over the world, depending on when you choose to visit. You'll also have the opportunity to go out on hikes with a local expert guide if you have suitable clothes and boots.
We are looking for someone who enjoys variety in their day and likes to help out in many different areas of the home. There's always something to be done depending on the time of year.
At weekends and during school holidays we'd like someone who can encourage our son, Gregor, to do activities other then watch DVDs, or play computer games. He is learning both the guitar and the keyboard. He also loves being outside, building fires, building dens, whittling with this penknife etc but he likes to have company which is the one thing we can struggle with.
This host offers a language exchange
Our son learns Spanish and Mandarin at school - though he is more interested in learning a wee bit of German. We'd be happy to learn a wee bit of your language as part of our exchange. Rebecca has worked for 3 years as an English language teacher in Taiwan.
You would have your own room in the main house with shared bathroom facilities. You will be expected to keep your room clean and change the bed linen but we will provide all clean bed linen and all meals.
There's a plethora of trails throughout the area for hiking or mountain biking. We're half an hour from Inverness (by car). There's a local bus which runs regularly through the village linking us with Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore. There's a sports centre in Aviemore and in Grantown which you can use. We don't have any spare mountain bikes but if you have your own do bring it with you.
We have any organic garden which also consumes a lot of time but if you're here at the right time of year, a lot of our fruit and vegetables will be home grown.
