Description
We have ceramics workshop, funded in 1999, and is dedicated to the production of Ceramic Murals, sculptures, and a variety of utilitary ítems, all hand made as unique pieces.
Recently reorganized to promote our different disciplines, and prepare visual artists, to apply múltiple ceramic technics in their works.
We aré expanding our installations and building new infrastucture, such as wood firing kilns, in addition to the existing gas firing kilns.
We always need extra hands, to elaborate artistic large format Murals, sculptures, etc. And some help for this continous expansión, during the building process of the installations and afterwards....
We need builders, carpenters, and some office help, too.

We have nice rooms, with shared bathrooom, with hot water, TV, located in the forest, about a mile away from downtown Valle de Bravo.
Is a small town 100 miles SW of México City , very picturesc, sorrounded by mountains and a beautiful lake, with an esplendid weather most of the year.
What else ...
Valle de bravo is gaining popularity because of its privileged location, and all the facilities. There is a beautiful lake, and a large number of water sports aré practiced here, beside hiking and some extreme sports such as flying, and bike sports.

In addition to, as a typical mexican town, there are made several artcrafts, and múltiple festivals full with colours and nice people, in resume a very nice place to visit.

This place is great! Pedro is an incredibly nice and genuinely caring person and is as generous as any one human is capable of being (and more!). He is an amazing artist and applies his creativity to all aspects of his life which I really admired and was inspired by. He's a positive force even when his back is against the wall. He has led an… read more interesting life and is full of interesting stories that I really enjoyed listening to. His kids, Ivo and Ania, take after him-they are very sweet souls. All three of them speak very good English so don't be intimidated if your Spanish isn't that great. He introduced me to a lot of his friends who were also very welcoming and interesting people. Julian and Domingo, the other two artists that work in the studio, don't speak much English but are just as kind and welcoming as everyone else; I regret not being able to get to know them better as my Spanish is limited. This is a unique place with a lot of big, open hearts.

Pedro was always very appreciative of my help and accommodating in any way he could think of. While I think he would prefer volunteers that have ceramics experience, there is always work to be done in the greenhouse (I'm a ceramics novice so that's where I worked for the three weeks I stayed) and there's always something under construction if you have any skills with building. Like I said, he's very creative so don't hesitate to contact him as he can undoubtedly find someway to apply the skills you have (just give him ample time to check his email!). The house and workshop are located in a quiet area at the edge of town but it's an easy and quick walk to downtown, the local market and a large grocery store. Lunch is communal and everyone helps with either cooking or cleaning and you are on your own for dinner (which he always offered to pitch in on the groceries). In the workshop there are beds for more than one volunteer up in the loft; downstairs there is a bathroom with hot showers as well as a kitchen with a fridge and stove. The work schedule is rather flexible which was really nice.

The only difficulty I had was with his wife. She seemed to be going through a difficult and confusing part of her life and wasn't interested in interacting with me in any meaningful way. It was quite awkward and I think it put a bit of a strain on Pedro. She doesn't speak much English so perhaps if my Spanish was better it may have helped our relationship.

I feel like I made a life-long friend and hope I can come back and visit again soon. Thank you Pedro for such an amazing experience!
