Description
My wife and I moved to the Charente region of France in 2022 and we purchased a small farm of 4.5 hectares with an attached gite.
We have many pets; Charlie our chocolate labrador, alpacas, valais black nose sheep, chickens and two lovely donkeys, Polka & Bilbo. We use our animals to offer mediation therapy to assist with improving peoples mental health and wellbeing and everything is based on a mindfulness approach - the present moment.
We are surrounded by nature on all sides at our farm and it is a great place for finding peace and tranquility.
My wife and I are from a medical background and we are now retired and rediscovering a new life in France with our animals.
Anyone who stays with us will not be working in any business but helping us with our passion for animals and nature.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We can offer you practice with English language skills.
We can help you to learn more about our animals and how to look after them and how to manage the land in a sustainable way. This includes paddock rotation and parasite control and when to know when something is wrong.
We offer you a comfortable, welcoming home-from-home and the chance to see rural France and life on a small farm.
You will have plenty of time to chill and relax as well.Help
We would like to improve our French language skills so someone who can speak French and can help teach it to us would be great.
We need someone who loves animals and wants to learn more about them and their care as well as someone who loves nature and wants to discover more. We would also welcome improving our own animal care knowledge as well as growing in mindfulness activities.
We need help with the feeding, cleaning, walking and exercising of the animals as well as general help around the farm and help with housework some days as well.
You will not be working for any business, purely for our passion for animals and nature.Languages

During the peak holiday season, you will have a double bedroom with wardrobe and storage space as well as your own private bathroom with shower within our house. Clean towels will be provided and a house washing machine is available also.
If required, Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be provided each day. Breakfast is a tea or coffee, cereal and pastry. Lunch is either sandwiches or soup or salad and the main meal is in the evening. You are welcome to share your meal with us or you can have it in your room or out in our gardens, especially if the sun is shining. What else ...
We are surrounded by nature on all sides with fields, trees and loads of wildlife and birds and the lakes of the Charente are very close by which includes water sports and fishing.
We are not isolated as the nearest village with shops with boulangerie, pharmacie, bistro, tabac and post office is only 3km away and the larger chateau towns of La Rochefoucauld and Rochechourt are only a twenty minute drive away. We go to the shops and supermarkets usually twice a week so feel free to join us.
Limoges airport is only 40minute drive away and the railway station there can take you to Paris and Toulouse.
You can borrow a bicycle to explore as well.
