    Description

May 2026- October 2026 (Possibly Beyond!)

Robbie & Fiona own and manage (amongst other things) t a Bunkhouse and six Holiday Rentals in the tiny but amazing village of Durness North West Scottish Highlands. We are looking for a couple to join our small team - hopefully 2 enthusiastic adventurers. We need help from late April/May 2026 as our current “Workawayers” return home. The place is located in the heart of our small rural community busy in summer but wild and quiet over the winter months - so this is not for the faint hearted! Although we are relaxed our standards are high we work hard to offer our guests are the very best we can. We also have a working croft with cows and we really embrace Highland life.

We have work for 2 people both will need to appreciate the art of cleaning, and of course a complete love for doing laundry this is a big part of the deal. Our standards are high. Skills in general maintenance are very handy for the outside chores. There is much grass cutting ,painting and general outside work so a capable person with practical skills is essential. We always need help with marketing, social media and all the boring bits

We are looking to invite 2 individuals who have an appetite for something new, are hard-working, flexible with an eye for detail and a passion for life and people. Happy inside and out and ready for a new adventure in the wild. To save time and energy please only apply if you have the correct visa's/documentation to legally work in the UK already in place, we cannot help with this and there is NO way around it. The jobs we have are paid- we are fair & responsible employers and this is reflected in the package we offer our help. We pay living wage and provide accommodation. Please do not apply if you are not willing to work at least 5 days and fully contribute to the opportunity we have to offer

Apart from work experience we have a very small friendly local team we spend a lot of time together like one big family. Living in a rural northern community you have to be flexible and innovative. We work daily with our community supporting all aspects of village life. We are very active in promoting local seasonal produce and our sustainable approach to business shapes everything we do. We also operate a working croft with cows and bees and do our best every day to deal with marine plastics which are plaguing our golden shores. Workawayers will be welcomed into The family and encouraged to participate in local events which keep our community alive. Everyday we try to remember to appreciate time and space as we are located in Europe's last great wilderness the most sparsely populated area in mainland Europe. Life here in simpler than most places and the need to be self-sufficient is certainly important. Steeped in nature and shaped by the natural elements this place is not for the faint hearted but for those who want to breath in life and appreciate the small important things
