I have a 40 acre horse training farm in rural Northern Saskatchewan.
I offer horse training to outside clients, mostly colt starting and some horses needing refreshers. I have 6 horses here of my own also in various stages of training.
If you're looking for experience training horses, there is lots if that here. Using natural horsemanship type techniques the goal is to build a foundation of trust and communication.
There is also the opportunity to help with cattle at our other property a few times a week.
My family and friends are all within an hour from the acreage and there is lots of opportunity to meet great people and go on new adventures as well as other travellers!
There is 1 dog and two friendly cats, the house has 3 bedrooms and was originally built 70 years ago.
Help in the house
There are many opportunities to experience ranching and farming, although I don't have cattle personally.
We live close to many First Nation indigenous people and have opportunity to see and experience some of their cultural activities.
There are many local points of interest and historic sites that I am sure we could make some trips to.
Help required would be mostly with horses. Handling, riding, grooming based on your comfort and experience.
Or if you enjoy building, or small renovations there are a couple projects on the property I could use someone who is knowledgable with that also!
In the summer I hope to have a garden, and maybe some chickens and goats.
I have two spare rooms upstairs on the same floor as the master.
We can make two separate rooms or if guests wish to share a room we can also put both double beds in the larger bedroom.
The house is an 70 year old farm house is relatively good condition, with a good size living room and kitchen. There is also a mini fridge and a mini freezer if anyone wishes to have their own fridge and freezer for special items. There are 2 cats and 1 dog that stay in the house also.
I have satellite TV however no access to Internet from the farm. We have a library in town with computers and Internet and I also have a neighbour who will let me use their wifi for emailing.
I live 15km from the closest regional park and 55km from the nearest provincial park and we do lots of camping and fishing you are most welcome to join in on.
I personally spend most of my spare time riding horses and being outdoors and always welcome company.
Our expectations are that everyone is treated with respect and honesty, clean up after yourself and to enjoy life. We try to keep things simple.
