  Description

  We are a couple of gay men, Théodore and Étienne, working respectively in development and in education. We're also very fortunate to have a house in the Lot Valley, located at the top of a wooded hill that requires a great deal of maintenance. That maintenance is an immense source of happiness, but it's a bit too much for two. We are therefore interested, for the first time, in having a workawayer help us out. Our property has the particularity of being situated, on one side, at the outskirts of a medieval village, and on the other side, at the edge of a forest. If you're fond of Southern European climate, of old stones, of pine trees, of river views, and of course of the river's water when you bath in it, then you will love our hill and our village. As for us, we love reading, travelling, listening to music, visiting museums, cooking, exercising and of course, meeting new people.
  
  Nous sommes un couple d'hommes, Théodore et Étienne, l'un travaille dans le développement, l'autre est enseignant dans le secondaire. Et nous avons aussi la chance d'avoir une maison dans la vallée du Lot, située sur une colline boisée qu'il faut entretenir. C'est un pur bonheur de le faire, mais c'est beaucoup de travail pour deux personnes. Nous cherchons donc pour la première fois un workawayer pour nous y aider. Notre propriété a la particularité de se trouver à la lisière d'un village médiéval d'un côté et à l'orée d'une forêt de l'autre. Si vous aimez le climat du Sud Ouest, les vieilles pierres, l'odeur des pins, la vue de la rivière, et le contact de son eau bien sûr, vous aimerez notre colline et notre village. Quant à nous, nous aimons lire, voyager, écouter de la musique, aller dans les musées, cuisiner, faire du sport et bien sûr, faire la connaissance de nouvelles personnes.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  Staying with us will put you in touch with Southern European vegetation, and we're part of it :) We love discovering other cultures and learning from other people. We mainly speak French and English, but also German and a bit of Spanish. If you're coming to France to improve your French, then you shall be satisfied, one of us teaches that language! If you're coming in order to discover what's life in the countryside about, then you'll discover an absolutely charming village, and many other beautiful villages around.
  
  Le séjour chez nous vous mettra en contact avec une végétation méridionale et deux hommes tout aussi méridionaux, aimant découvrir les autres et apprendre d'eux. Nous parlons notamment français et anglais, mais aussi allemand et un peu d'espagnol. Si vous venez en France pour y travailler votre français, vous êtes bien tombé, l'un de nous enseigne cette langue ! Si vous venez découvrir la vie à la campagne, vous découvrirez un village charmant et bien d'autres beaux villages autour.

  Help

  If you stay with us, you'll help us carry out various maintenance tasks in the forest. The main tasks will be vegetation clearing, tree pruning and grinding of green waste. If you have experience doing all that, that's great. If you don't, that's just as great! We ourselves didn't have much experience, we have learned, and we are still learning. You only need to be in good shape, the have a certain physical strength, and to be interested in learning. We will very often do tasks together, but sometimes, once you will have mastered a certain task, we may leave you on your own for an hour or two, if we are needed elsewhere. In addition to doing tasks outside, we will occasionally ask you to help us out in the kitchen -- always with us in there too :)
  
  Si vous venez chez nous, vous nous aiderez à entretenir la végétation sur notre colline. Les tâches principales sont le débroussaillement (avec une débroussailleuse thermique, une tronçonneuse électrique et toutes sortes d'outils de jardinage), l'élagage de faible hauteur et le broyage des déchets végétaux. Si vous avez de l'expérience dans tout ça, tant mieux. Si vous n'avez aucune expérience, tout va bien ! Nous n'en avions pas beaucoup nous-mêmes, nous avons appris, et nous apprenons toujours. Seulement, il faut une bonne forme physique, une certaine force aussi et l'envie d'apprendre. Nous travaillerons très souvent ensemble, mais parfois, une fois que vous aurez maîtrisé une certaine activité, il se peut qu'on vous laisse seul(e) une heure ou deux s'il nous faut travailler ailleurs. En plus des travaux à l'extérieur, nous vous demanderons parfois de nous aider à la cuisine -- toujours avec nous :)

  Accommodation

  You'll have your own bedroom in a small house located a few meters from the main house. In that small house, you'll have your own bathroom. The kitchen is in the main house. We'll have at least one meal a day together, or all three of them, suiting your preferences and ours. We'll sometimes ask for your help in the kitchen (cooking, clearing the table, washing the dishes) -- always "with us", never "for us".
  
  Vous dormirez seul(e) dans une petite dépendance à quelques mètres de la maison. Dans cette dépendance, vous aurez votre propre douche et des toilettes. La cuisine est dans la maison principale. Nous prendrons au moins un repas ensemble par jour, peut-être trois, selon vos préférences et les nôtres. Nous vous demanderons parfois de l'aide dans la cuisine (cuisiner, débarrasser, faire la vaisselle) -- toujours "avec nous" et non pas "pour nous".

  What else ...

  In your free time, you'll have to choose between swimming in the river, canoeing, hiking in the hills or among the vineyards, renting a bike to explore the surroundings, taking the bus to visit other villages or the city of Cahors. As for ourselves, after a morning spent outside (the heat makes us start early), each of us works at his desk, or we chill out on the terrasse or at the river. We love our house to be a quiet and peaceful place.
  
  Dans votre temps libre, vous pourrez vous baigner dans la rivière, y faire du canoë, faire des randonnées dans les collines ou dans les vignes, louer un vélo pour explorer les environs, prendre le bus pour visiter d'autres villages ou la ville de Cahors. Nous, après une matinée de travail dehors (on commence tôt car il fait chaud), nous travaillons dans nos bureaux respectifs, ou nous passons un moment tranquille sur la terrasse ou à la rivière. Nous tenons au calme de notre maison.
