    Description

We are a young family of four - Kate, Nik, Oren (6 years) and Mica (3 years). We live in the beautiful farm area - Ilparpa - under the ranges, near the clay pans and along a riding track about 10kms out of Mparntwe (Alice Springs). We moved to our block 3 years ago and love it here with the wallabies, spinifex pigeons and other birdlife. It's a quiet little piece of semi-arid paradise. We have many projects large and small, from some routine maintenance, painting, gardening and maintaining the large block, building a chicken run, cleaning, organising and art projects.

We have spent many years both in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) as well as living and working in remote Aboriginal communities. Kate has a background in anthropology and community development and Nik is highly skilled in landscaping, horticulture and DIY projects. We would love to share local info on great places to explore here in Central Australia and Nik can also share skills in everything from gardens, native plants and building projects.

We would be more than happy to share our local knowledge, places to go, understanding of local cultures. If you are also keen to gain experience in some DIY projects, maintenance and landscaping Nik can also share these skills.

Out here there is plenty to do in nature, there are endless options for adventure seeking, hiking, waterhole swimming and enjoying camping in swags in a sandy riverbeds. It's also incredibly peaceful and a place to unwind. In the cooler months there are many community events, festivals and music to be involved in. Our house is generally a hive of activity with two small boys but we have lots of room to spare. We love spending time with people with diverse life experiences and from many cultures.

We have a large master bedroom available with queen size bed, ensuite bathroom with views overlooking of the ranges at the back of our place. An additional single bed can be added into the space.

We are usually up early around 6am and spend time in the lounge/kitchen at the opposite end of the house. Breakfasts and lunches can be made yourself with what is available in the shared kitchen. We cook a hot meal in the evenings and tend to eat early round 5:30pm. We are happy to talk with you and cater for food intolerances and cultural preferences.

    What else ...

We are located in a rural area about 10 kilometers from the township of Mparntwe (Alice Springs) which is accessible via road or a made footpath on bicycle. It's best if you have your own transport but we may also be able to help you and make an arrangement that means you can get around.

In your spare time you can get out on bush walks, check out the scenic clay pans, visit the nearby East and West Macdonnell Ranges and enjoy everything our desert home has to offer.
