    Description

Hi, I am Kathleen, 37. I have a 5 hectares land in the Natural Parc of Douro International (north-est of Portugal). I am creating an agricultural project inspired by permaculture, with medicinal and aromatic plants, fruits trees and bees ( don't have the bees yet, I am at the beginning of the project). I also want the land to be a welcoming place for everyone. I am creating a space that hopefully will have the capacity to receive group for all kinds of workshops/retreats... and I want the farm to become an exemple for our local comunity in regenerative holistic agriculture. For now, I am living in a little homemade wood and stone house. The land has fresh drinking water from the spring and there is a little river that flows part of the year. There is a lot of wild life: eagles, vultures, lezards, salamandras, frogs, trees and plants... and hudge granit rocks. Escalhao, the closest village, is 3 kms away.
I also work casually as a massage therapist ( taoist) and as a Reiki practitioner. I practice yoga and meditation regularly. I am interrested in holistic and natural medecine in general.
For now I am still at the begining of the project.

Ola !

I am doing an experimental farm. I mix traditional knowledge from the area with (re)discovering about sustainable farming, inspired by permaculture snd sintropic agroforedtry. I have nice friends in the village and around, that the travellers will probably get a chance to meet. I organize Full Moon gatherings with local people and I plan on organizing soon more events on the land.

For now the main focus is to create a general design of the land and to create more accomodations to receive people. The travellers can help in many ways depending on what they like to do and what they are good at : gardening, fire wood work, ecoconstructions, water managment, wild plant harveting for herbal teas comercialization, evetually house setting, permaculture designing... I also welcome ideas to help me organize the project.

    Accommodation

The travellers can sleep in a cosy truck house that has a doble bed and a small kitchen place. There are dry toilettes. There is no runing water, but the water from the spring is fresh and delicious.
We eat lunch together that we all help to prepare, or we take turns. Volunteers usualy have breakfast and diner by their own. The food is vegetarian.
I also receive people that are travelling with there camping van.
If you don't want to work every day or if you want to work less hours, we can agree on a financial exchange.

A comida é principalement vegetariana.
Também recebo pessoas que viajam com autocaravana.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I want everyone to feel free and confortable on the land. I take care of people, and I have moments to listen to how everyone feels. I like to make regularly talking circles so that everyone have a time and space to express how they feel.
The land around is semi wild and beautiful. There are great walks to do. The village of Escalhão is made with old stones ( houses and streets) and have a church from the 11th century. There is a pacific atmosphere. We are close from the river Douro and the river Agueda where we can swim and that make the border with Spain. In the region the main crops are olive and almond trees and vines.
As we are in a remote region of Portugal there are just few buses that come here. Please contact me and I will give more info.

A terra à volta é semi-selvagem e bela.
