Tzununá is beautiful and small village in the shores of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala.
Some years ago we created this idea of a Community Center that would be like a big project to work on many different levels: library, music center, computer space and a place for the women of town to sell the beautiful things they do and to support the young people of Tzununá with workshops and alternatives to help with work opportunities and studies. Developing education in Tzununá, promoting reading, doing crafts with children. We are organizing painting classes, cooking classes, english and all other classes that could support the children and young people in their path to learning jobs and empowering them to earn incomes.
There is a primary school and a middle school but after that the young people don´t have access to education; to go to High School or University.
What we want to have is a great place to grow as a community integrating people from the village and the volunteers.
We need the help of people to do what we cannot find in the Community. So no volunteers will be taking jobs that the people from Tzununá could do.
We are ONLY looking for help in FUNDRAISING for know
Living in an amazing community you will get to have contact with a local culture and enjoy the exchange. We like to say that this is a two way exchange you will learn from the community as much as we will enjoy your help. The children and young people of Tzununá are very nice and grateful for all what you will give and exchange.
We are searching for help in fundraising. This is the most important work we need done as soon as possible.
Catalogue the books from the Community Library, help create a program to lent books.
Teaching english to children and teenagers (knowing Spanish is a must).
Please AVOID offering what we are not mentioning here!
You will have the option of living with a local family or having a place to stay that is clean and nice in the Community. We will provide one lunch per working day.
Tzununá is a small village were you can enjoy nature, visit an organic farm, do Yoga and connect with people from the village. You can also make things happen: play soccer, movie nights, forums and so on. You name it!
