hi, I'm Tanya. 29 years old, from the West of Ireland. Thursday's child if that means anything. I'm hard-working, adaptable, and pretty independent. My background is in healthcare; I graduated from UCD with a BSc in Health Sciences in 2018, though it's taking me some time to figure out how I actually want to use my qualification.
I am a recently qualified EFL teacher, currently teaching English online. Does that make me a digital nomad ? I'm passionate about cultural exchange, meeting new people and learning languages. My work doesn't feel like work as a result, for which I'm extremely grateful. I am always looking to share my skills and challenge myself, and teaching while travelling affords me the opportunity to do so.
I love nature and being outdoors, animals, analog photography, yoga, reading, swimming. I also really value my downtime, and sometimes if I don't have anything to do I just won't do anything ! I am so lucky to live in the so-called "Lake District" in County Mayo (though I have never met anyone who calls it that), and love the peace and quiet of my rural life.
Though I'm not a city-slicker by any means, I can be quite reliant on my creature comforts. I would love to step away from these comforts and live more simply alongside nature, I want to continue to explore and try new things.
Over the past few years I have learned so much about permaculture, homesteading, and living in community. It has been such a deeply rewarding, transformative experience. I'm not ready to give it up any time soon ! As I continue to travel and challenge myself, I want to learn new languages, and continue to share and participate in cultural exchange every step of the way. I am learning new things with every day that passes. In a few more months I might just start calling myself a climate activist, as I am very interested in learning more about how people can work together to heal the planet.
I want to share my skills and passion with others, and am ready to learn and work hard ! Workaway is opening up a door to the world, and I hope this opportunity will help me become a more confident, well-rounded person. I look forward to every adventure :).
I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19 ! 2 doses of Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech) vaccine received. Booster received January 12 2022. -
