Iðunn is currently living in Copenhagen and Silja is living in Tórshavn. We are open to all kinds of work, but especially organic farm work, pet sitting and looking after gardens.

Hello :)
We are Silja and Iðunn, two 21-year-old girls who are super excited for this experience!

We’ve been friends since 3rd grade and have always talked about backpacking and traveling the world together. We have also dreamed about moving abroad and working in another country. When we discovered Workaway, we saw an opportunity to combine those two dreams.

We’re hardworking and have done a bit of everything—including gardening, working in the service industry and cleaning. We pick up new skills quickly and are totally open to trying out any kind of work.
We’re outgoing and love learning about new languages and cultures. We're both down to earth and like to be creative, knitting or drawing, while also enjoying new and fun adventures.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We both started our first job in housekeeping at a Hotel when we were 13 years old. Since then we have primarily worked jobs in the service industry such as cafés, restaurants and bakeries. This has taught us a lot about working with people and communicating with customers and guests from different cultures.
After finishing high school, Iðunn moved to Copenhagen and is now working as a gardener and Silja is currently working at a bookstore in Tórshavn.

Iðunn has hands-on experience in garden maintenance, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and planting. She also has experience in garden renovation tasks such as laying tiles and building stone walls. Additionally, she has worked on family farms in the Faroe Islands, mainly with sheep herding.

Silja has a lot of experience in the tourist and service industry and enjoys working with people from different backgrounds. While still in high school, she worked part-time as a hotel receptionist in Tórshavn, where she developed strong communication skills, learned how to stay organized under pressure, and gained confidence in creating a welcoming environment for guests.
She is currently employed at a cozy bookstore in Tórshavn, a role that allows her to combine her passion for reading and literature with customer service. She especially enjoys being responsible for the antique book section, which requires attention to detail and appreciation for history.

Beyond work, we have experience in childcare, as we both have younger siblings and cousins. We also love animals and have both had pets in the past.

Was noch ...

We are both creative individuals. Iðunn enjoys painting and playing the clarinet in both folk and classical music, while Silja loves knitting and reading. We both enjoy being around nature, and immersing ourselves into other cultures.

We have both had an exchange year at sixteen years old.

Iðunn attended a year in "Efterskole", a unique type of Danish residential school for students aged 14–17, focusing on both academics and personal development. During this year, she lived on her own alongside other teenagers. This taught her important life skills such as, how to live independently, being responsible, and communicative.

Silja spent eight months as an exchange student in Saint-Étienne, France. Those months taught her a lot about cultural differences and how to adapt to a new way of living, and the experience helped her grow as a person. She also learned to speak French quite well, even if it has become a little rusty after five years.

At 18 years old, we moved out of our parents house and found an apartement together where we lived almost three years.
