Hi, I’m Millan. I’m 25 years old and from the UK. I’m from a small town between Manchester and Liverpool called Warrington.

I’m an outgoing person and really enjoy meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I’m a native English speaker and I’m looking to improve my Spanish speaking skills this year as well as immersing myself in the variety of Spanish cultures. I also really love learning in general and hope to learn many new skills.

I recently left my full-time job as an accountant to travel and explore more of the world. I will be taking a 6 month trip through Central and South America, since I was unable to many years ago due to Covid. This is the longest trip I have ever done away from my home country.

I have lived and worked in Liverpool for the last 3 years following university. Living in Liverpool I loved being involved in local community activities. I hosted a radio show as a DJ on a local radio station, organising and planning a live show every month. I was part of a running club in the local area, doing training sessions, races and running for charity. I also volunteered with local primary schools from ages 5-10. This included integrating maths learning with games and other activities.

I have also volunteered in the past at a disability centre helping elderly people with basic computer skills and various other jobs such as designing posters and artwork.

My interests span from music, reading and art. I also have a blog where I write about these things and various other interests. I enjoy exploring things in more depth and I’m a very curious person. Workaway would help me experience cultures and countries better which would bring me a lot of joy.

I am a social person and enjoy a sense of community. I host small art events with my friend where we have had different artists perform and produce art from music, dance and sculpture. I love forms of expression and this includes seeing the different ways different cultures express themselves both in normal life and through various art forms such as music.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I’m a reliable person and I have worked in a hotel for 3 years as well as being an accountant for 3 years which both require different skill sets. However, they both required me to be organised and reliable.

My hospitality skills included working around the hotel serving guests, managing all the food out of the restaurant, helping on the bar and room service. This also included cleaning the restaurant and kitchen every night or morning after service. I also had to be very flexible during this time as I worked in other departments as well such as weddings and large conferences.

I have volunteered and worked with young children from the ages of 4-10. I have volunteered with primary schools helping and teaching maths work and various other games. I also coached a young basketball team for a few years, running the training sessions and coaching during games.

I also have some cooking skills from preparing and making meals for family and friends.

I like building things and I enjoy building furniture and recently helped to build a greenhouse for my mum for her garden. I would like to improve on these skills doing more work outdoors.

I also have good computer skills and with my events that I host with a friend I design all the artwork and social media posts. I also help with setting up the space which has included installing various materials into the venue.
