I am Prashant - used to be horse rider & Junior riding instructor, now I am front end developer. I am from Nagpur, India currently living and working in Amsterdam :)
I moved to The Netherlands end of 2022 and it has been a new chapter of my life all together.

From my skills mentioned above you can see that I have quite curious mind and have this need to explore places all the time hence I try to get my hands dirty with as many wonderful experiences as possible. My most recent experiment of sort is that I volunteer as a bartender at a story telling place in Amsterdam which is amazing! I do it for fun and it is quite wonderful way to unwind. I also love to cook food .esp Indian food :)

This year, I have learned paragliding and intend to get some basic license in early 2026, so wish me luck. In the past I was horse rider. I have went on outdoor ride only once this year but I am still good with horses. I started as a volunteer in the riding academy back in India and ended up being a junior riding instructor. It has been so much fun teaching kids how to ride a horse.
I love everything that is natural. Particularly animals, wilderness, books, humans and their purest creation - kids. Exploring places, travelling, cultural exchanges, making meaningful relations, getting to know them and growing as a person is what I wish to do all the time. I have groomed horses, petted goats, geese, rabbits, hens and I have had two Dogs as well. Working for animals and taking care of them makes me happy and helps me give something back to mother earth. I have a very open mind (I have been told so) and I like being that way. However I think of myself as little opinionated as well. :P
My purpose of travel is to work with people and give them whatever is best that I can offer from my skill sets and go beyond my capabilities and learn whatever it is that they need help with. And while I am at it I want to see how an entirely different culture works. I want to learn the best I can from people I come across while I am on this journey so I can be the best possible version of myself. I want to put into practice the virtues of compassion, gratitude, kindness & forgiveness towards everyone including myself :)
Lately, I have been into manifestations and energies and have been lucky enough to successfully manifest certain things. I like to meditate because it helps you manifest easily. I've read and practiced religiously for such manifestations so I am also interested in spiritual journeys as well :)
I worked alongside my dad making road and pathways to my place as a kid and my mom with her garden in 1500sq ft area. During pandemic I made my own BBQ grill out of a Desert Cooler and a iron stand. It was quite a work :D
Also, I had done carpentry as part of our studies in college as well.
Being a avid book reader, I feel that best way to learn something is by doing it. So here I am on the go "to do" things and learn. I am very excited to meet you guys and live my life exploring such fantastic opportunities.

Currently I am a temporary Dutch resident and do not have any visa requirements to travel across Europe so trying to make the best of my time here.

I like trying new things as I think it adds to my growth and improves me as a person. At this particular time I am more focused and interested in cooking, language exchange and DIY work. I like to keep my options open all the time and let my curiosity be my compass while I navigate through my life.
I am greatly influenced by books and my own curiosity, interests and pursuit to evolve more is what drives me to take actions everyday.

I spent 3 weeks at the school starting in January 2019. Being at the school was so nostalgic for me. I attended few French classes and it took me back to days when I was myself a student. It reminded me how I was as a student and what about a teacher I would find more appealing. Because of that I sort of knew how I could pursue these students to … read more get involved in learning more enthusiastically. I can't say if succeeded or not in teaching them but we definitely had a good cultural exchange. I made friends with students there who are keen in learning English and we do keep in touch today as well. We still practice sometimes English over phone and text messages :)

I liked interacting with the students very much inside and outside of classroom hours. I had the opportunity to be volunteering alongside Paul who was a volunteer just as me except that he was very very experienced. He was the senior most faculty(75 yo) we had there volunteering with us and we all benefited with that. There were other volunteers as well namely Leo from Brazil and Elizabeth from Australia while I was there. Everyone of us enjoyed teaching and learning French from the students. It's amazing once we make friends with students and I think we did quite well..

I don't speak French but before I left, I was able to introduce myself in French and understand the basics a bit...(thanks to Nolwen, Mamadou, Chloe, Elousie and Madame Ouided of course) It was not difficult to teach or interact with students since we had Ouided alongside us most of the time, but even outside classroom hours most of the students did show interest in interacting or talking to us. Some of them were interested in knowing about our countries, or discuss some cool TV shows we watch leading to spark a conversations which demanded everyone to just "talk" in some language. In my opinion all these conversations leads to a great exchange. Apart from this, the classroom interactions and learning is also very engaging. One of the key things to classroom learning is keeping students engaged in activities that are interesting(games) and conversations. Ouided makes sure these classroom activities are perfect. Everything described in the workaway info page is accurate and you will absolutely love your time here. I miss the school and students very much.

Thanks Ouided, Michel and Isabella and all the school students for such a fantastic experience... I think i'll come back again at the school soon.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Maintenance help with our ...)

I have a big smile on my face and happiness is rushing through me as I am writing this feedback. My entry there was quite dramatic... my visa came up just 3 days days before my departure from Mumbai and everything was done last minute.. Dana came to pick me up at the train station just few hours before it was officially Christmas - many thanks to … read more her... I was actually getting a bit tensed since it was very late and considering it was my first time out India and I didn't knew a word in French...(quite an adventure).. and she had to leave the Christmas party to come and receive me.. so thanks.

After I left the train station everything was Christmassy... The Chateau was filled with gifts, decorations, music, wine and laughter. I felt very much at ease from the moment I entered the Chateau and met everyone.. I was shown to my room de-roger which had a very cute bed that does takes you into a fairy tale. The next morning I woke up and was blown away by the beautiful surroundings, chateau and frost .. :) It was actually like a fairy tale to be waking up to all this. I consider myself very very lucky that I had the opportunity to be at the Chateau during the festive season. I had only seen Christmas in movies and never been a part of the celebration or didn't quite knew the spirit in which it was celebrated... Stephanie gave me the chance to be a part of that celebration..I am so so thankful to her for that...:)

I have never been out of India before so it was first time for me to be out of India, to be celebrating Christmas for real and to be living in a countryside French Chateau. The chateau is just majestic.. It is a fantastic place whether you want to spend some time alone or walk in the woods or may be even party.. I stayed until new years eve so I got to enjoy the new Year's party as well. I think it is just amazing how Stephanie manages to get everyone under one roof and keeps them together. I got to meet her family(Isobel and Gerry), friends which includes all the volunteers and some bnb guests as well. I felt very comfortable with everyone.

I spent most of my time working in the woods collecting firewood and cutting some trees, sometimes alongside Michael and sometimes alone. I liked working alonside him.. he is a kind guy..with some cool stories to tell.. and I liked Donna - I think she likes to drink and dance especially when Brandon is making some drinks..and she is very jolly.. also she would be one after Stepahnie whose laughter you'll remember even after you leave the Chateau haha.... I liked working alongside everyone actually and knowing them. They are all very warm and welcoming. I miss the dinner nights we had everyday and the variety of different meals. I couldn't have asked for a better first workaway experience.

I wish I could've extended my visa and stayed to witness the beauty of the Chateau when it snows.. but again I know for sure I'll be back sometime :) The inhabitants have given me wonderful memories I'll cherish forever.. Thanks :)
