Hello! My name is Elena and I'm a 29-year-old Italian woman currently exploring the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand — a solo journey I started three months ago.

I come from a tiny village of just 600 people nestled in the Italian countryside, but over the years, my studies in engineering and graphic design have taken me to bigger cities and broadened my perspective. I’m now working towards building a remote career, combining creativity and technology while staying flexible and connected to the world.

Curiosity has always guided me — whether it’s learning something new, connecting with people from different cultures, or simply observing the way nature works. I care deeply about the environment and try to live in a way that respects it. That’s one of the reasons I chose New Zealand: to immerse myself in its unique nature and get to know the local way of life from the inside.

I’ve been vegetarian for a few years — it’s simply a personal choice that feels right for me. That said, I’m very easygoing about it: I’ve always shared kitchens and meals with non vegetarian people, including my own family, and it’s never been an issue. I don’t judge anyone’s lifestyle and I’m happy to cook my own food when needed, while sharing space respectfully and joyfully.

Back home, I grew up helping my father and family renovate our mountain house during the summers — painting, building, fixing things… I loved getting my hands dirty and being part of something tangible. That same spirit is with me now. I’m not afraid of hard work, and I find joy in the little things, especially when they involve being outdoors.

I’m friendly, open, and always up for a good laugh. I enjoy yoga and sports (though keeping a routine while traveling is a bit of a challenge!). More than anything, I’m here to learn, contribute, and make meaningful connections along the way.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Growing up in the countryside taught me a lot about working with my hands and being adaptable. I’ve helped my father with all sorts of practical tasks over the years — from picking fruit in the fields to assisting in the renovation of our mountain house. Painting, sanding, small repairs... I'm not afraid of physical work and actually enjoy being active and useful.

I have an academic background in engineering and also studied graphic design, so I’m comfortable using computers and solving problems, both technical and creative. I’m currently continuing my studies to build a location-independent career.

Having lived on my own, I know how to take care of a home — I’m tidy, organized, and respectful of shared spaces.

My English is fluent, and if anyone is interested in learning some Italian, I’d be more than happy to help!

I'm an endlessly curious person — I find joy in learning about just about anything, especially when it connects me with people, places, or stories.

One of my greatest passions is reading. I've even worked in a bookstore, which was a dream come true for a book lover like me. I enjoy everything from novels to non-fiction, and I love how books can open windows into other worlds and ways of thinking.

I also love spending time outdoors and staying active. I enjoy hiking, running, yoga, and trying out different kinds of sports — I may not stick to one thing all the time, but I’m always up for movement, especially when it’s in nature.

Nature, in fact, is where I feel most at peace. Whether it's walking through a forest, sitting by the ocean, or simply breathing in fresh mountain air, I love immersing myself in natural environments and taking in their beauty.
