Hello! My name is Emmi. I finally decided to join Workaway after wanting to for a very long time. The past few years have been difficult for me—I’ve lost a lot and am learning how to grieve while trying to figure out what I want in life.
I’m someone with a lot of passions and interests, and I’ve always had trouble choosing just one. I’m very curious and love learning. I studied art and ecology in university, as well as carpentry in college. Some of my interests include sewing, printmaking, pottery, illustration, film photography, beekeeping, baking, nature, education, yoga and so much more (can you see my issue?)
Most of my work experience has been in education, particularly nature/outdoor and arts education, as well as general substitute teaching and as a substitute education assistant in public schools. I have experience with children of all ages, with a wide variety of needs and in many different settings. I’ve mostly taught children but have also worked with adults, sharing knowledge about the natural world, insects, and art. Teaching and learning in natural environments is something I truly love—it’s where I feel the most connected.
I’m passionate about the outdoors. I love wandering in nature, identifying and learning about native plants, gardening, and exploring self-sufficiency. I also have a huge fascination with insects—I could spend all day outside searching for and observing them.
I have a very special connection with animals—a bond I’ve realized is unique as I’ve gotten older. I truly love all animals soooo much, and while I’m not currently in a place in life where I can live with all the animals I’d like to, I’m always excited to care for and connect with them wherever I can.
I’ve had the chance to travel a bit for 2 separate volunteer/internships abroad working with animals and insects, and I’d love to continue exploring, learning, and sharing more experiences with others.
A bit more about me:
- I’ve been vegan for about 10 years, inspired by my love for animals.
- I have a big sweet tooth and love to bake
- I don’t smoke or vape, and only drink on occasion
- I have my cpr and first aid level C
I’m generally a bit quiet and to myself when you first get to know me, but I value connecting with people in meaningful ways. I’m hardworking, curious, and creative, and I’m always looking to learn more. I consider myself compassionate and empathetic, and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty or lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed.
I’m looking forward to possibly meeting and connecting with you! 🙂Interessengebiete

Was noch ...
Hmmm, I love board and card games! Catan is my favourite board game.
I am very interested in learning beekeeping and pottery, and many other things.
I have a lot of experience with pet-sitting, and with children. I have lived with (and still do) multiple senior animals before and have experience with caring for them. I am confident in my ability to love and care for your furry (or feathered, or hairless!) friends. I have been working with children since I was old enough to. I’ve babysat for a number of families, many that I'm still in touch with and close to even though the children have grown past needing a babysitter. Most of my work experience has been with children.Etwas mehr Information
