Hi! My name is Anouk van Amelsvoort, and I’m a young woman from the Netherlands. Since February 2024, I have been traveling and working abroad. Currently looking for a place around Adelaide.

About me:
I’m 30 years old and I live in the south of the Netherlands, in a city called 's-Hertogenbosch. I really enjoy living here, just a few minutes away from some of my best friends. I had an amazing childhood, thanks to my wonderful parents and big brother. We grew up in a small village where everyone knows each other. For university, I moved to Utrecht and later to Maastricht. Since then, I’ve been living with roommates, so sharing accommodation is no problem for me. I have a master's degree in Constitutional Law and have been working for five years in Environmental Law. Recently, I’ve realized that this job no longer suits me. I want to spend less time behind a computer, and see more of the world.

Workaway experiences:
March - May 2024: Worked in a hostel, Kauai, Hawaii
June - August 2024: Worked in a surf guesthouse in Ericeira, Portugal
September - December 2024: Back in the Netherlands (working at my old job for four months to save extra money for continued travel)
January 2025: Thailand (just traveling)
February - March 2025: Helping hand on a Cattle farm, Roma, Australia
April 2025: Gardering and help in and around the house, Hideaway Bay, Australia
May -June 2025: Guest House and Sushi bar, Chiba, Japan.
July - August 2025: Hospitality, Netherlands
Sept - Oct 2025: Surf guesthouse in Ericeira, Portugal
Nov - Dec 2025: Housekeeping, Perth

Character:
If I had to describe my personality in a few words, I would say I am creative, optimistic, social, energetic, and caring. These qualities make me well-suited for jobs in tourism, though I am willing to try almost anything. In Kauai, I had an all-around role: working at the reception desk and helping with cleaning and making the beds. In Ericeira, I managed the breakfast buffet and worked the bar shift in the evenings. I’m a quick learner, I don’t mind working hard, and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty.

Other jobs I've had in the past that might be useful during this Workaway period include cleaning for the elderly during summer holidays, working in housekeeping as a student, and babysitting/help around the house for almost two years. You'll never catch me doing nothing.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I’m a hard worker, don’t mind doing some heavy work.
Not afraid of getting dirty or sweaty. I see what needs to be done and don’t ask for much.

I’ve lived together with others so I’m used to sharing facilities and clean up after myself.
I can work well together and enjoy the synergies that derive from collaborative effort. I like being surrounded by people but I’m also good in entertaining myself for a while and go out on my own.

I enjoy playing games, whether it be learning new ones and share some games we play back at home. Besides that, I’m a creative type and like to craft art in all kinds and forms. (I've added some pictures of a wall painting i've made once).

The past few years I have worked in an office, but before that I have worked in retail, I have multiple years of experience in baby/child sitting, I was a housekeeping in a large hotel and I have spent my vacations cleaning for elderly when their permanent help was on a summer break.

I pick things up very easily and I’m a fast learner. I’m looking forward to broaden my horizon and thereby my skills and I would love to learn more about farming, livestock and food, gardening and taking care of all kinds of animals.

Was noch ...

I fell in love with the sport Surfing a few holidays ago. I would like to improve. If your place is close to a beach suitable for surfing where I can spend some free time, that would be the biggest bonus.
