Aloha! I'm Alyssa. I'm originally from New York City but I've worked and traveled across all seven continents.

In undergrad I studied happiness through neuroscience, philosophy, and social psychology. Since then, I've worked in several fields from mental health to hospitality to being a backpacking guide. I currently still work in mental health in eating disorder treatment as well as guiding backpacking trips and leading international adventure trips around the globe.

I love nature and the outdoors and am particularly drawn to polar climates and remote environments. I enjoy hiking, skiing, rock climbing, camping, and anything that gets me outside. I'm passionate about helping others experience and enjoy nature as well. I like traveling and experiencing different cultures, languages, and food, and am happy to immerse myself in new places. I am socially motivated and building connections with people is important to me.

I'm happy to help with whatever needs to be done, and I love to work with both children and animals. I'm looking forward to learning from hosts and the communities I get to be a part of!

I love to learn the languages of the places I visit. I am fluent in English and confidently conversational in Spanish. I have learned bits of Italian, Portuguese, and Norwegian in the past and am always hungry for more languages and a better ability to communicate with people around the globe!
