Hello,

Im Tatiana, Greek, and I have been volunteering since 2022 and now I am sure that i cannot go back to my previous city life.

I have joined various projects, mostly off- grid, in some beautiful places of the Mediterranean campo! My goal is to join more projects where I can contribute but also expand my knowledge on sustainability, self-sufficiency , gardening, eco- constructions with natural materials, and communities! and caring for animals!

I love the physical challenge, and even if there is no specific time for teaching moments, as long as i can participate on all the above, i observe and i learn.

I got in love with nature, basic living conditions (but somehow luxurious - showering under the blue sky!), like-minded people, inspiring projects, hikes, a nice cafe con leche now and then in a small traditional village!

I cant bring expertise but i bring my passion and I work hard (i kinda enjoy it!).

oh, and i LOVE animals ,all sizes!

I have been a WWOOFer (wwoof.org) for 3 months in a farm in Greece. I was taking care of the animals (chickens, rabbits, donkey, dog and a cat) and the garden. Daily manual work from feeding the animals to weeding, harvesting olive trees, work on the garden and cleaning of the farm all around. I also joined during the honey harvest as the owners of that farm have their own bees and honey production!

During my workaway experience, I was involved daily in the animal care, feeding, cleaning their spaces, and doing maintenance work around the barn and inside the house.

Vom Workawayer für Host (Transform a traditional farm ...)

I have spent almost 5 weeks in this beautiful place, between March and April, and i can say honestly that it has been an amazing experience.

First of all the finca itself: The farm is a small paradise, a huge place with so many fruit trees, nut trees, colourful flowers growing everywhere, the garden with all the veggies! And then you have the … read more main house with all the comforts that you need at an off grid farm like this one (and some times even more, like proper hot showers and 2 bathrooms!). Medhi does not live there, so you get to live and take care of the place yourself with the rest workawayers!

The daily work: As it is mentioned on the title of this profile, the place is getting transformed currently and you get to participate in all these changes, which for me was really interesting. Especially the garden keeps getting upgraded continuously. During my stay we: raised beds for the garden, filled them with soil and horse manure, planted veggies, did some weeding, waterproofed the main water tank, watering, "played" with irrigation and garden hoses, taken care of the chickens etc.

The host: Medhi is a very sociable and kind person (although on your first call he might appears a bit strict! :) ) . It has been really easy to be around him, communicate on the daily tasks, always responsive even when he was away. He comes 2-3 times per week, you work together and he gives instructions of all the pending tasks. Keep asking questions if you dont happen to be a farmer (like me!), he will love to share his knowledge! Medhi is a very generous host, expect some great barbecues with friends and family or fun days at Estepona.

To conclude: You get to live at an off grid paradise and feel it your own (if u like the sense of responsibility like me). if you have specific knowledge on constructions or gardening feel free to discuss with Medhi and you can own you own projects! You live with the volunteers, hence it all comes down to the team for your daily life in the farm (from the working schedule to your daily interactions and fun). There is even a car for the workawayers to use, so if you wish to travel around you can be independent although isolated (the next "white village" is a 20 min drive). Oh, i ve missed those avocados and the big wooden table at the terrace ! There is even a river (5 min walks) where you can go "swimming". The only thing that you might miss here is the spanish local cultural exchange, however you get to experience a different lifestyle of an English speaking community in this posh part of south Spain. (Medhi speaks Spanish fluently, hence if you want to practise your spanish, go for it!)

I will definitely come back, the fig trees are waiting for me ;)
