Dear potential host family,

My name is Chris 👋 and I’m currently seeking Workaway placements with families or Forest Schools 🏫.

I hold a Cypriot 🇨🇾 passport, which means I have fewer EU travel and work restrictions.

While I’m not working, my plan is to travel 🧳 and share cultural and life experiences abroad. I’ll assist families with childcare and English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 language lessons through conversation, play 🛝and daily tasks. I’m not looking for a holiday; I want to build lasting social networks and friendships, create memories and share a language and culture.

I’m particularly interested in Montessori and Forest School approaches to teaching children. I’m passionate about nurturing and enabling children to become active participants in fun 🤩 and creative opportunities, especially outdoors.

My ambition is to open a bilingual 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇮🇹Forest School in the south of Italy in 2027 and I'm currently studying 📚 for my Forest 🌳 School Qualification.

I’m generally in good health, a non-smoker and drink very little alcohol. I enjoy keeping fit with plenty of sports like football ⚽️.

I completed my first Workaway experience with a lovely family 🧑‍🧒‍🧒 in Alicante, Spain in August 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We’ve stayed in touch and visit each other every year.

I love making people and children smile, laugh 🤭 and have fun. If you’re looking for an all-round, chatty, funny, tea-loving ☕️, proactive and sporty English teacher 👨‍🏫 passionate about childcare, then I’m the person for you!

Experience:

I have extensive childcare experience, mainly working with children aged 4 to 12. I’ve been working in childcare for over 20 years in various roles, including in children's camps and as a football ⚽️ coach. I’ve also owned a successful seasonal childcare business and worked for many families as a babysitter, including running children’s birthday 🎉 parties and wedding creches.

My recent experiences have been in private households, working as an Au Pair and nanny for various families, including some high-profile clients. I’ve worked in London 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, Italy 🇮🇹, Spain 🇪🇸 and Switzerland 🇨🇭. In these live-in roles, I’ve taught English to children, including some in Italian and Spanish schools. Typical childcare duties include helping with homework 📚 , driving 🚗 to activities, collecting from school, playing and establishing bedtime 🛏️ routines when needed. Household chores like keeping things tidy, cleaning 🧽 and being proactive are also part of the job. Being part of the family has been a wonderful experience ❤️.

These experiences have allowed me to meet and make lifelong friends and positively impact children’s lives. I’ve also developed new skills and adapted to different cultures and lifestyles.

I’ve completed both an online TEFL 120-Hour course and an advanced Level 5 TEFL qualification. I also have Early Years and play work qualifications, a Football Coaching qualification and many other short courses.

I’ve also completed a BSc Open (Honours) Degree 📜 in Childhood & Education studies at the Open University, achieving a First-Class Honours! 🍾

Was noch ...

I'm a sports enthusiast and play (and can also teach) both football and tennis!
I am additionally a qualified football coach. I have qualifications in Play Work - which means I love playing, supervising, creating and giving children the space and ownership for their play.

I enjoy being outside, going for walks and getting fresh air - I love sandy beaches and ice-cream!
Huge on Star Wars - a typical lad who likes sports cars!
One of my biggest strengths I believe is engaging and motivating children, as well as being a positive and fun role model.
