Dear potential host family,

My name is Chris and I am currently looking for Workaway placements, either with a family or school/orphange or charity.

*I have a Cypriot Passport - meaning less EU travel/work restrictions*

Spain or Italy are my two favourite destinations - but also open to new and wider destinations, for experiencing new and varying cultures (South Korea, Japan, Thailand) in particular for the future.

My plan is to travel and share further cultural and life experiences abroad - by assisting / helping families with childcare and/or English language (through conversation, play and day to day tasks). I am NOT looking for a holiday, moreover I seek to make long lasting social networks and friendships with others abroad, create memories and share a language and culture.

I am particularly interested in a 'Montessori' approach to teaching children, as my interest centers on nurturing and enabling children to become active participants in fun and creative opportunities - especially outdoors!

I am generally in very good health, a non-smoker, drink very little alcohol and like to keep fit with plenty of sport ⚽️

I completed my first workaway experience with a lovely family in Allicante, Spain (Aug 2022) and loved the experience (Check out the reviews). We have since stayed in contact and visit each other every year!

I enjoy making people and children smile, laugh and have fun! If you are looking for an all-round, chatty, funny, pro-active and a sporty English teacher, who's is passionate about childcare - then I'm the guy!

Experience:
I have an extensive range of childcare experience - mainly with 4-12 year olds. Have been working in childcare for over 20 years now - in varying roles including running before, after school clubs & holiday clubs, as well as other work as a sports coach. I've also my own successful childcare (seasonal) business and have worked for many families as a babysitter, including running children's birthday parties and wedding creches.

My recent experiences have been in private households - working as an Au Pair / Manny for various families. These included working in London, Italy Spain and in Switzerland. Within these 'live-in' roles, my tasks included teaching English to children, (including some work in Italian and Spanish schools), typical childcare duties - help with homework, driving to activities, collection from school, playing and bedtime routines when needed. Help around the house is also part of my job - keeping things tidy, cleaning and being pro-active and as part of the family. These amazing experiences have given me the chance to meet and make new lifetime friendships and make positive differences, in addition to teaching myself new skills and adapting to different cultures and lifestyles.

I have completed both an online TEFL 120-Hour (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and a advanced Level 5 TEFL qualification. On top of this, I've gained Early Years and play work qualifications, in addition to a Football Coaching and many other short courses.

Additionally, I also completed a BSc Open (Honours) Degree in Childhood & Education studies via the Open University, achieving a First-Class Honours!

Was noch ...

I'm a sports enthusiast and play (and can also teach) both football and tennis!
I am additionally a qualified football coach. I have qualifications in Play Work - which means I love playing, supervising, creating and giving children the space and ownership for their play.

I enjoy being outside, going for walks and getting fresh air - I love sandy beaches and ice-cream!
Huge on Star Wars - a typical lad who likes sports cars!
One of my biggest strengths I believe is engaging and motivating children, as well as being a positive and fun role model.
