Hello, I’m Shams! Originally from Montreal, Canada but I call home wherever my backpack and I are. Currently, that’s Hong Kong where I bring youth and adults alike on kayaking and hiking expeditions.
Within the past few years, I’ve traveled a fair bit, encouraging my curiosity to discover our planet and how we may live a more harmonious life. Sustainable living is something I am very passionate about and forever invested in continuous learning. I am a huge nature lover I am happiest when I get to spend lots of time outdoors. One of the main reasons I like to travel is to learn new skills revolving around the outdoors and lead a self-sufficient lifestyle.
I’ve done eight workaways in the past ranging from a couple of days to six months: from working at a family farm in Turkey to shooting promotional content for a boutique hotel, plastering a house using natural building techniques, learning about sustainable living and animal care (chickens, goats, sheep, cows, rabbits, and geese) in the North of Canada and planting trees in the jungle of Costa Rica. I love this way of travel because I get to really be with the locals and learn in-depth about their lifestyles.
More recently, I was living this winter in Whitehorse, Yukon teaching folks how to sew, 3D print, podcast, and basic woodworking classes. I also have my 200-hr yoga teacher training + Pilates Teacher Training and I'd love to use any of the skills I've picked up along the way for your project! -
