Beschreibung

Born in Brazil, raised in California. I am a free spirit, an adventurer, an open soul. I trust my gut and follow my heart. I have a Bachelor's degree in Peace and Justice Studies from Tufts University in Boston, MA. I worked as an educator at an outdoor school in the mountains of California, teaching peace, conflict resolution, assertiveness, interconnectedness, respect, community, individuality and many other social emotional values and skills for 10 years. I believe there is so much power in bringing together diverse groups of people to play in nature. I love dancing, singing, playing with animals, hiking, sleeping under the stars, swimming, theater, cooking, and being a part of a community. I am a very friendly and open person, and I love meeting people from all backgrounds. To me, it doesn't matter where you're from, what language you speak or how much money you have, it matters what you have in your heart. I try to spread peace and positivity by loving and serving others.

I'm heading back on another traveling voyage-- this time to explore my ancestry, spirituality, connection to land, and get to know more cultures in Latin America. I want to work on projects such as organic farming, permaculture, taking care of animals, holistic healing, natural medicine, and yoga, and eco lodges/retreat centers. Conscious community and intentional alone space is very important to me.

I love to teach. Anything I know I am willing to share with others. I also love to learn. I am a fast learner, and have the mindset that I can learn to do anything!

Areas I can teach:
- English, Portuguese, Spanish
- Dance: salsa, bachata, samba, hip hop, free movement
- Workshops on team work, diversity, conflict resolution, social emotional regulation
- Cooking Brazilian, Mexican, and vegetarian and vegan cuisines
- Yoga (not a certified yoga teacher... I have over a decade of personal practice)

I have over a decade of professional experience in outdoor education and experiential education programs. I love working with children and in the outdoors. I am comfortable leading hikes, teaching others how to canoe, kayak, swim, and play many games!

I have experience working as a cleaner, reception, bartending, serving and cooking.
I have experience working maintenance on a campsite, and can clean and fix many things.
I have helped on construction projects, as long as I'm not the one in charge I can assist in any way. I know how to use power tools, I can do heavy lifting, chopping, painting, etc. I am the type of person who will do whatever needs to be done. I am very resourceful and practical.

Where do I begin to describe my experience at the Farms Ciales?! I spent 2 months there. The finca is an ever-changing, ever-evolving entity home to whoever happens to inhabit it at the moment. It's wild how diverse we can all be but aligned with one mission: to connect with, learn from, and protect Mother Earth. Co-living in community definitely … read more has it's rewards and challenges. It's okay to have different opinions than others, as long as there is respect, peace and mutual agreement, I can be safe and secure. There was a commitment to living in integrity, however when it came down to it, nobody is perfect. I think the systems for accountability, and doing things in general, can be improved. This project is going to continue growing and involving so many different people, so clear guidelines and expectations for how everything should be done would be helpful.

I appreciated the way I was welcomed into Joey's home, being invited to open communication with him, and his willingness to listen for understanding. My needs and requests were heard and granted. I will cherish my time gazing out at the magnetic views, relaxing in the treehouse, walking down to the waterfalls and river, cuddling Pega, eating delicious meals, and going on spontaneous adventures! Thank you so much to Zoe and Jaime for the horseback ride, drives to Manati beaches, and runs to town for groceries. Mostly, thank you for your friendship & welcoming me into the finca familia.

During my time I helped out with mostly maintenance tasks like painting, cleaning, and organizing. I also spent time tending the garden but I wish I had been able to invest more energy there like originally planned. I know that all projects are always a constant work in progress, and there are many different needs, but I would have hoped more time would be towards pursuing the "farm to table" in the name. Harvesting in the forest is an amazing skill that can be learned here, but it requires individual initiative.

The highlight of my time here was healing in the waterfall and meeting so many incredible people. Through the retreats and events we hosted, I met some really awesome folks living all over the island and world. I have been inspired to create herbal medicine, give healing touch massage. cook Ayurvedic food, lead ecstatic dance circles, and love and be my authentic self! I am so grateful for all the lessons & love. Look forward to our future collaborations. Obrigada!

Rebeca was just the right person in the right moment, helping us during two weeks getting the farm up and running after a tropical storm knocked down several young trees. She also got to deweed, plant and harvest, cooked some fine meals and participated in the conversations. I wish her a happy journey!

Lenny really had a very nice time with Rebecca. They had a lot of fun drawing, playing, creating crafts, going to the beach and to the pool together. She is patient and a very good cook! We highly recommend her. She is also a very nice person to live with.
