Hello everyone! My name is Poppy and I'm an artist :)

I've been currently living in a community / permaculture project in the North of France for the past 4 months, and I'm looking to find my next Workaway experience for this November in the South of Spain :)

Although I’m English, I was raised and live in Spain. I love to travel and explore new cultures, and I hope WorkAway will help me do that more!

I’m passionate about learning new languages and discovering different cultures. At the moment, I speak English, Spanish and Catalan fluently, and French on an intermediate level.

I love meeting new people, sharing experiences together and learning from each other.
I enjoy making things, being in nature, exploring new places and learning new skills.

I am very easy going and quite a calm person, with happy outbursts of energy. I hope to meet lots of new people, and to assist others in the pursuit of their different life projects, whilst sharing and expanding my own abilities.

I have experience in illustration, painting, sculpture, fashion, sewing and animation, as I have studied these different disciplines and practice them. I also have a lot of knowledge about psychology and mental health.

I can prepare very good vegan and vegetarian food, and I can also cook good fish. I also have experience in painting and patching walls, interior design, furnishing and gardening. I have a very good eye for color and design, and I am also proficient in a number of computer programs (Adobe Suite, SketchUp, ZBrush, etc).

I have spent a lot of time studying, and I have also had different jobs (waitress, language teacher, kindergarden assistant, and also a bit of renovating and the odd art commission here and there.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I’ve studied animation, sculpture, and fashion, and I enjoy working with my hands and exploring creative disciplines.

Professionally, I’ve done a wide variety of things:

-I’ve restored old masías (traditional Catalan farmhouses).

-I’ve worked on moulding and retouching religious sculptures.

-I’ve taught English and worked as a waitress in bars and a restaurant.

-While traveling, I also spent a period of my life singing jazz and painting portraits in the street with some friends to earn a bit of money -it's something I would like to get back to, some day.

I know how to sew, both by hand and machine. I’m confident in drawing, painting, and using a range of creative digital tools. I also have some experience with pattern cutting, and I enjoy writing.

I'm comfortable working with many types of materials, whether for art, building, or interior decoration. I know how to retouch and paint walls, create decorative elements, and bring a tasteful sense of design to a space. If it's creative and I don’t know how to do it yet — I’ll likely figure it out soon enough :)

I also have a strong interest in mental health and psychology, and I consider myself a good listener.

I was vegan for many years and now cook very well both vegan and vegetarian food.

I speak four languages — English, Spanish, and Catalan fluently, and French at an intermediate level. I also find it easy to understand other Latin-based languages and can translate fluently between the ones I speak.

Was noch ...

I like diving deep in profound conversation, and I like to draw portraits of the people I meet.
I really like animals, especially birds. I'd love to learn to play an instrument some day and practice singing more.
