Hi, I am Oek. I’m 18 years old and I gratuated highschool last year. I had a gap year and I hitchhiked through Europe. I’m about to start my second gapyear and I wan’t to spend it exploring Peru.

Beschreibung

I only have two goals in life. My first goal is to enjoy my life by doing the things that I love to do. The earth is a wonderfull place and I want to experience everything it has to offer. My second goal in life is to help others. It’s really important for me to have a positive impact on the world. This is why traveling by volunteering is a perfect fit for me.
In my previous gapyear, I spent a month hitchhiking through Europe, partially on my own. I had an amazing time, but I did notice that I didn't really enjoy traveling when I was on my own. Thats also a reason for me to join projects on workaway. I would love to find some projects where I can meet new people and join a community. What I did like about hitchhiking is that you explore the world in your own way and you meet a lot of locals who can teach you all sorts of things. I had some really unique expiriences while hitchhiking that I would have never had if I travelled like a regular tourist and I think that travelling with Workaway is a great way to also have these unique experiences.
In my free time I like to hang out with friends and go on adventures with them. I also enjoy making art and I applied for atrschool, but I didn't get in. That's why I have a second gapyear.
I have a great appreciation for nature and I want to help to preserve it. I would love to explore parts of the world that have completely different nature from where I live. That's why I want to go to Panama and maybe other regions of South America.

Language is not a very big interest of mine and I am not interested in teaching a language. However, I would like to learn new languages over time by communicating with locals, but this is something that I think happens automatically.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

To start off, I am a pretty usefull when it comes to physical labour. When I was young, I spent most of my free time in a forest digging giant holes and building big cabins and treehouses with natural materials. I now use these skills to make a living by working with my father. He is an ecological gardener and he has been teaching me about plants and bothom life and stuff like that all my life. The work I do with him is often phisically exhausting and I work long days digging holes and carrying stones.
Apart from that, I also work in a restaurant as a waiter. I do this work, because I am a very social person and I love to meet new people.
Lastly, I have a very big interest for art. I applied for artschool last year, but I didn’t get in. That’s why I have another gap year to travel.
